CLIFFS:

1. Friday morning: My roommate and I go to local Comcast office, have account "transferred".
2. I get home after work. Internet connection doesn't work.
3. Almost a dozen Comcast reps are clueless and unable to get my connection working again on the phone. They tell me I have to go back to my local office, which is closed until next week. (why why why?). Somewhere in the process they tell me I need to get a new modem, which still doesn't work.
4. Finally on Monday afternoon at the local office they give me a different phone number to call. At last this rep is able to get me back online.

So, 3+ days of no access and hours wasted trying to get them to do something very simple that we made very clear. Something people must do EVERY DAY.

Actually, why not just leave it at the cliff's. No need to foam at the mouth here.

I'd have already dumped them for Bellsouth DSL if one day that truck hadn't snapped the phone line going to the house. We're all college kids with cell phones and didn't care at the time.

Haha, Comcast is a bunch of idiots. They had a collection agency chasing me for 4 months to pay for the modem that I never rented. I would call them, they would say oh sorry, we will take care of it. Then a month later I get another letter from the collection agency. This went in circles for ~3 months until I basically went straight to the call center manager at Comcast and wouldn't stop pestering them until I got a letter from Comcast saying they have corrected the error.

Of course SBC are a bunch of idiots also, I couldn't get my DSL working for 3 days, they would send a truck out and say it was fine, I call back, they do the same thing even though I specifically told them to send a tech to my apartment. The 3rd time they finally get the tech to my apartment and he says, yeah, it doesn't work (duh, that is what I said! They kept testing at the phone box on the street which was OK). Turns out the previous resident had a splitter on the line which was screwing up the signal, he pulled that and all was fine. Had another problem a year later and had to practically do the same dance again. Grr, morons. Other than that my DSL has been rock solid compared to Comcast which would have several hour outages at least once a month.
