I HATE COLLEGE DORMS!!!!!!!

And I thought HighSchool was demeaning. I am a senior and it is my first year in the dorms ( I was smart until now). The ahem "contract" they make you sign is ridiculus. The first week here the ceiling leaked and fried my monitor, "act of god" they said "we are not responsible" thats funny b/c a real landlord would be. And to top it off, I just got "busted" last weekend. What does busted mean, well - I live in a supposed alcohol tolerant dorm, so we are allowed to have it (over 21 of course)but we can have only the equivalent of 1 12 pack of beer. What a load of crap. Last weekend a few of my friends and I were sitting around playing a board game. Then we hear a knock, which happens to be my a**hole RA. He says, " Have you been drinking" me: "No" him;"can I come in" me:"why?" RA:"to take a look around" me:"sure" (figured I would be compliant and he would leave). He looks on the ground and there is a couple of bottles of hard liquor (remember there is 6 of us all over 21) says my roommate and I are in violation- can only have 2 bottles no matter how many people are in the room, we have too much alcohol. In the end I got written up for three things booze (which we had to dump out - 10 bottles in all -most of which was in the f*cking closet, noise violation (even though my radio was not on and quiet hours weren't in effect yet - we were "talking" to loud:disgust🙂 AND non-compliance (I guess I am supposed to suck the RA's cock as he writes me up).

So I get a letter in the mail today, I have to go talk to the Resident Hall Coordinator (the head as*wipe). Any suggestions on how to deal with this guy? I hope my temper doesn't take over :|

a) was an RA one year
b) moved off of campus my last year.

 
Jeez, you just got really unlucky my friend. Not all dorms are that bad, I've had great experiences living in my dorm so far. Your college really seems uncaring... not a smart idea when trying to keep students. It's your senior year anyway, so you'll be out of there soon. Why'd you move back on campus for your last year? Here at CMU, if you move on campus, 90% of the time, you'll never be able to get a spot in campus living...

Housing services here isn't bad, really tries hard to meet everyone's expectations.

our RA used to buy us the alcohol since none of us were over 21. she was also there the first time that PinkDot brought us alcohol to show her ID and therefore allowed us to purchase alcohol for the rest of the year. (they only check the first time...) she was cool...

luck of the draw i guess.

Heheh. Went to McGill University in Montreal. Drinking age was (and still is) 18, and my dorm was sponsored by Labatts. We got all our beer directly from the brewery at wholesale plus $1 for each 24.

The bathroom was coed though, so that took a little getting used to.

U of I is in Urbana/Champaign (or Chicago, for that branch)
ISU is in Bloomington/Normal
 
i got busted last year for alcohol too (well, i'm not 21, so that goes to say otherwise)... but the RA that busted me was a prick and the head person was known to us as "the blob." fortunately for us, "the blob" understood the whole situation (the RA entered without consent) and didn't go that hard on us... just tell the whole story straight up... u got nothing to worry about cuz you're 21, so don't sweat it...
 
coed bathrooms! i have some very good memorys because of college dorms, but I never stayed in one.. at least not for more than one night at a time😛😉

whhy in the hell would you sign a contract that only allowed a 12 pack wroth of alcohol in you room?

I'd be so screwed. My kitchen is better stocked than most bars.
 
Fu(k a frat. If the dorms suck just find a place close to campus, a little walking never hurt anyone...plus you don't have to pay for friends, and you don't have fraternity activites interfering with your schedule...
 
i went to KU and my dorm was the first one that they remodeled into more &quot;apartment style&quot; rooms. We had a seperate living room, bedroom and bathroom. It was way bigger than my sister had at Univeristy of nebraska. Our RA was some goody goody little ugly b!tch who didnt even have a sip of booze on her birthday (not that anything is wrong with that, she just thought she was holier than thou because of it). We had guys on one end of the floor and girls on the other and we all decided to drink after midterms one year. One floor had a kegger and their RA even bought a keg. Ours was snooping around too much, so we moved all the common rooms (big living room between the two wings) furniture in front of her door, and then tied a rope to her doorknob and then to the tv. WE go in big trouble for it, almost kicked out of dorms, but we also complained tha tshe had been entering rooms without consent so we got off the hook.

Yes, U of I is different. I went to U of I at Chicago for 2 yrs, and the tranferred to ISU (they have the best ed. program in the state). If you to to U of I, go to the urbana campus. 'Tis better.

I play rugby here, we used to have a house, but from what I hear we &quot;lost&quot; it a few years ago. But thinking of living w/ a bunch of delinquents has a lot of disappeal to me. I am glad I am out of here in a little while.

It depends on the person and the campus...at UW-Madison, greeks have never been popular (less than 10% of the student body belong to one), and now that most of them are going dry, enrollment is going down the toilet.
