I hate Clear Channel.

The one and only rock/alternative station in South Florida was changed into latin music today without any advanced warning at all. This is such crap, now all I can listen to for modern music is 7 stations of sh!t rap and 1 cr@p pop station. I guess I'll be sticking to the classic rock station now, but who knows how long before Clear Channel in their infinite wisdom pulls that station too.

They pulled 95.7 in Tampa which was one of their most popular alternative stations at the time and changed it into a Rap station but w/e...

OMFG I THOUGHT I HAD TRAVELLED INTO A PARALLEL UNIVERSE WHEN I TURNED ON THE RADIO AFTER WORK TODAY (I LIVE IN MIAMI). I CANNOT FVCKING BELIEVE THEY DITCHED ZETA.....WHAT A LOAD OF B.S.

(SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT I'M VENTING)

WOW!

I spent the first 21 years of my life in Miami and grew up listening to Zeta. Before I listened to Howard Stern in the mornings I was an avid Paul Castronovo and Ron Brewer fan. I can't believe they changed that station's format! It's been a rock station for like 30 years!

Did Paul and Ron move to Big 106?

yah, they're on 105.9 now, but that station only plays classic rock. zeta was awesome, i liked their rock selection better than any of XM's rock stations. this is a sad day for miami. i hope all the fvcking cubans get the hell out of here.

bleh, my mother and father are both cuban and came here in their teens. the phenomenon in miami now is just a huge influx of low class cubans and a city that caters to them. can it not be any more clear than this? we have 4 spanish stations and two hip hop stations that play latin music. the only rock station on FM here has just gone through a format change. gimme a fvcking break, even my parents complain about stupid sh!t like this happening all the time. you go into most retail stores and half the people that work there don't even speak english.

They have these cool new audio devices called CD Players. Might want to look into them. 😉

Seriously, I haven't listened to FM radio in years. Even the good ones only play a few songs every hour. And of those, only a percentage of them I enjoy.

So, what's the point?

This is part of the reason why I never listen to the radio. [insert recording industry rant here] CD players, as Wingznut says, are wonderful things. 🙂

Yeah...i haven't listened to teh radio for years.

I have a radio...but it's in my closet, never even unpacked from my last move.

Clear Channel is seriously one of the worst companies ever. I had a friend who was a DJ and was really good, and he knew a lot about the industry and he explained to me the difference between company-run stations and individually owned/operated stations, and it's horrible. The way companies like CC do it is like how McDonald's does their food.

Edit: Minus the grease of course, except for that in the executive's hair.

Wasn't there a list of blacklisted songs by CC back in 2001 floating around. I remember seeing it around the same time as the terrorist attacks. A lot of people were upset and called up the stations in Austin. One of the songs was "Revolution" by the Beatles...who the hell would ban that? I seriously think the right-wing corporate mofos are going way too far.

Rock stations are in big trouble. Most of the people listing to the radio these days are teenie-boppers that like all the pop crap that we're plagued with today. Songs are limited to a certain preselected block that loops endlessly though the day. This is why many people are turning to MP3 players these days.

Yea, and it's all R&B now - no GOOD rap.. C;mon, let's get some hardcore rap stations!

Yep, I remember that list. It had truly seditious songs like What a Wonderful World, Bridge Over Troubled Water, and Imagine.
