I had a Kobe burger tonight

And it was gooooood

$14 with sweet potato fries. I had seen one at another restuarant previously for $25, but $14 was easier to, erm, swallow 😀

Verdict: Excellent burger! $14 is the most I've EVER paid for a hamburger, and while I can't say any burger is worth $14, I don't regret it. I would do it again for a special occasion.

The burger was big, juicy, and very tasty! Usually when you get a super juicy burger, it's extra fatty and has that fatty texture to it, but this was just a pure beef flavor and great burger texture. So it was unique in that it had all of the elements of the perfect burger - the right texture and an excellent flavor. In my mind, when I think "hamburger", a Kobe burger is exactly what I think of.

At home I quit cooking beef burgers in favor of bison burgers - they have a much more delicious meaty taste but are super lean. The Kobe burger had a similar awesome flavor; I could tell the difference between a Kobe burger and a Bison burger flavor-wise, the meat is a bit different. Both are delicious. Regular ground beef just ends up tasting like a plain-jane Burger King burger to me unless I spice it up a lot with flavorings, so I really appreciated the Kobe burger tasting like a burger.

That is the most I have ever thought or talked about burgers in my life. The end. Yum 🙂

I'm skeptical about the whole Kobe beef burger racket. Kobe beef's signature is the tenderness and the marbling, but since you're grinding it up, how is that any different from just using a fatty mix of ground beef (say 70%)?
I'm guessing it's "beefier" tasting, but could you get the same by aging a decent cut of meat, like a top sirloin, then mix in some beef trimmings?

Yup, grinding it up kinda kills the point. 🙂

Possibly. The texture was perfect (for a burger) and the meat was very flavorful. It's hard to sing praises without making it sound amazing, you know? I mean it was a great burger, to me it's like the definition of a good burger. I wouldn't say go and pay $25 for one at some fancy restaurant, unless you just really wanted to try it and had money to burn. It's not like WOW THIS IS AMAZING YOU GOTTA TRY IT!! It's really, really good, but to me it is simply what a real burger should taste like. For like my birthday or something (went out with a buddy tonight a few days after my birthday to celebrate as it was), $14 was worth it for a special and fun meal.

So Kaido's order of red meat:

1. Ground beef is for meatloaf
2. Ground bison is for home-grilled burgers
3. Ground Kobe is for special-occasion burgers

🙂

I went with a buddy, who got soup. I brought home a regular burger for my wife and she didn't like it. So if you ever are in the area, snag a Kobe burger, some sweet potato fries, and their sorbet is nothing short of amazing 😀

Yeah, but at the same time you still get to enjoy the great flavor. For $14, I can stomach it, but for $25, that would be like a once-in-a-lifetime "I tried it to say I tried it" kind of thing 😉

Is he the one who originally posted about the Kobe burger? Because that thread is what prompted me to look for it

I think so. I know he's into "Kobe", both burger and Bryant...

Not sure about Japan, though

I'm sure it tasted better than your average burger but if you are grinding it up what is the point in having Kobe?

Steak it up!

What a waste of a good cut of beef.

We have a bar here in San Jose called Britannia Arms that serves something they call a Kobe Burger. I have no idea if it's really Kobe beef or not, but it's about $14 and it's pretty good.

So its like the Lebron burger, except it doesnt run away after it gets served?

Kobe burgers are tasty.
