Sounds like the rightwinger who was the violent one.

The argument got heated and the suspect learned that the young residents had not enlisted in the military and "put their all" behind the Republican-led war effort in Iraq, police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.

where in your quote does the rightwinger display violence?

My quote clarifies who was the violent party; the original link has the allegation of violence:

A Fredericksburg man was arrested Saturday on charges he assaulted three strangers at their home...

From the story at the OP's link:
The resident and his two roommates engaged in a discussion with the suspect, though none of them had ever met or had contact with him before.

The argument got heated and the suspect learned that the young residents had not enlisted in the military and "put their all" behind the Republican-led war effort in Iraq, police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.

The suspect refused to leave the home after repeatedly being asked to do so, police said. The three roommates were hit multiple times each as they attempted to get the suspect out of the door, authorities said.
Is that violent enough, or did he need to bring out weapons?

Pretty sure the fella was a lefty; that fits the meme of "how can you support the war if you aren't willing to fight in it!"

Note the headline:

"Police say political dispute with stranger got physical
Man's Republican beliefs irritate suspect"

If anyone actually read the story instead of just mouthed off, they would find that the SUSPECT is NOT a Republican; the residents of the house are the Republicans. It is they who were assaulted when the SUSPECT refused to leave the Republicans house.

This man went over the line. He shouldn't have have tracked these folks down and confronted them - no matter how much he despised their viewpoint.....

What a psycho. Why would you make the effort to track down someone and confront them over their personal views?

That would freak me out. If Harvey or tech or someone showed up on my doorstep saying "hey man, WTF?" *shudder*

:p
