I like loud music. If you don't, you can kiss my ass. ;)

I like when they have a $5000 sound system in a $800 car parked in front of their $250/month rental house that's falling apart :).

Next spring when my restoration project is done, if anyone hears some Van Halen playing at indecently loud levels and it's coming from a black Jeep, that'll be this 41 year old rolling through.

I had a pretty decent system in my Bronco about 10 years ago...that was my early 30's. You could hear me from a long ways off if I wanted you do, but I usually just jammed it on the road, turning it down at stoplights and through neighborhoods.

OP forgets that people my age are the ones who started the whole deal with having big amps and subs in your ride. WTF am I supposed to do 20 years later, listen to big band music on stock 4" full range speakers?

First off to the OP. Please don't be so politically correct. When you say ghetto you mean poor urban blacks and latinos. Say it like you mean it and don't mask it in fancy and innocent sounding language. If you meant poor whites in Appalachia then say that to. We need reference here.

This is what I find so funny about ATOT. People like you complain about the "PC Crowd" so much but comments like this are the most PC-bs I have ever seen. The OP isn't a full on racist but thats an ignorant thing he said. I doubt hes met any of these people from "the ghetto" on any meaningful basis. There are a-holes everywhere - I know out here in suburbia rich white kids and their old white dads drive sports cars 100mph with music blaring. Should I make blanket assumptions. No. But I will call it as I see it because I'm not afraid about being politically correct like you jdoggg. His comment is ignorant and factually unsound since it is just by circumstantial observation.

LOL. Once again have you ever even been to "the ghetto" and actually talked to people - and not just the ones who actually are bums and don't want to work. I don't mean drive by in your car with the doors locked either. The real people who do work sh*t jobs or try to find work? No I doubt that you have. It's easy to make blanket statements but go to your local library, go to www.jstor.com, and type "urban poverty". Don't even read the stuff from the academics - it will pull up government statistics on employment that may shake you out of your world view. If it doesn't oh well - but as someone who personally knows people from the "ghetto" I believe you are flat out wrong.

However, I turn it down at stop lights, in parking lots, and in neighborhoods.

I don't want people to know what I've got in the trunk.

I'm the same way on all points. Only time I blast when I'm at a stoplight is when someone pulls aside me and I can no longer hear my music. I then turn mine up louder than theirs so I can hear it again.

That's pretty much the only reason I have a nice-ish system in my truck. I've also dynomatted my doors though, too. It pounds, and it's loud, but you can't hear it outside the truck unless you're standing literally within a foot, or my windows are down.

And who wants to put down their windows and suffer the Texas heat just to annoy others? Screw that noise. My AC is on, and my windows and music are both up, and you'll pretty much not know it.

No, you have to be immature to not realize or not care how it affects your neighbors.

I live in the same type of area, I know exactly what he's talking about.

These guys roll around all windows down blaring music with extremely vulgar language, using words that I can't use without being considered a racist prick toward the person playing them, all in front of infants and other small children in residential areas within hearing and viewing distance.

Age has nothing to do with it. Thirty is not even old. Ninetynine, now that's old. If you reach that age and still driving a car you should get arrested.

Face it, you don't need 2 "18 subs for music reproduction in a space as small as
a car interior. It's not about enjoying music as much as it's "LOOK AT MY MONSTER
STEREO!" Was at the jiffy-mart a few days ago around 2 PM, a guy drives up in
a beat up probe with rap blasting "MF" and "N"words then proceeds to go into the
store and leaves the car running. All the while small kids 6-10 yrs old are walking
by the car and hearing this crap@ 110db.....nice.

I am loving the responses to this thread. Mostly white kids (and 30+ year old people too, cant leave them out) who "bump" their stereo. That is all kinds of awesomeness.

I am all for loud music, but two things. One, be considerate. And two (and this is the biggie), lots of bass DOES NOT equal quality sound. When I listen to your stereo and all that is there is the bass line, that sounds like total crap. You need to hear the entire range. That's what gets me. I used to work at Best Buy and these freakin retards would come in and think that lots of bass made their car stereo sound awesome. Like bass shakes ladies panties off or something. I dont know. Whatever.

Well I will say as a teen/20 something the SPL impressed everyone but a few diehards...later you find SQ (sound quality) is actually more fun to listen to and can have a tremendous amount of energy.

Right now I am using a pair of CDT CL62i/24's and a pair of ID10V3D4's at 2ohms. The fronts get about 200WRMS and the rears about 400WRMS. I don't hit a very high SPL, but you would hear it like I said above if you were out in your yard. I listen loud enough for decent sound volumes driving 50-70 mph with the windows down.

I don't agree with those using a wall of 15's that are so uncomfortable in the cabin that the driver wears earplugs when he bumps it through a neighborhood. That is being an asshat. I knew a few guys that would get kicks just cruising through residential areas coming home from a club thumping as loud as they could. I told them they were assholes then...just makes it harder for me to enjoy stuff responsibily.

It's like street races, used to be you just ran light to light in non-crowded areas. You got caught and just a ticket was given. However, dumbasses had to make it not just light to light but until whoever tops out...running through red lights and closing down roads. Only a very small fraction of people die from street racing (much like DUI's) but it's a hot crime now. You get caught even burning a little rubber for fun, you can get your car impounded.

I can't even go to a warehouse district now after hours without worrying that I can possibly be arrested and my car taken/license revoked.

Biggest thing I try is enjoy my music quietly around relaxing people.
