They don't hire off-duty cops to run hustles there at night? All of the 24hr stores around here hire them.
Yeah, I noticed that a cop that I know is always at a certain grocery store, acting like he's shopping. He pretty much just goes through the checkout line with one or two items, then goes back into the store, puts his things back, finds something new, and does it again.
If people committing crimes like that were logical in nature then I'd concur with your hypothysis. It has been my personal experience, however, that desperate people do desperate things.Originally posted by: halik
hmmm most robbers wouldn't shoot you to begin with, theres a huge jump between armed robbery and 2nd degree murder.
Personally I'd just cooperate and hand em whatever money they want, its not your money so id just go along. I'd run into problems if they asked for my watch or something like that, especially of sentimental value.
I wish someone would jack my car though, damn it....

Yup, same thing happened to me in 1999... was working graveyard shift at a gas station and this black guy walked in with his hood on and swimming goggles on his face... he put a .38 to my head and yelled at the old lady working the cash register to OPEN THE SAFE BTCH or he was going to BLOW HIS HEAD OFF AT THE COUNT OF 3. I calmly told the man that a) there was going to be no "count" and b) only the manager could open the safe, so he yelled at her to give him all the register cash. Then he proceeded to tell us to move near the front doors, and the old lady started saying how she couldn't move b/c she was so scared. So he ran out, and this was during a crazy ass thunderstorm that had knocked the PAYPHONES out of commission (they were in the minimart)... funny but when the manager did show up, he told the cops that the guy got away with $200 more than we said and pocketed the rest (bastard).
Later on, we find out that this same guy and his friends had killed a man in the apts behind the mini mart with a baseball bat. I think he wasn't hostile towards me and to the old lady b/c I sold him blunts b4 w/out asking for ID (I was cool with all the blacks, didn't give a dam). A detective tried to get me to come to court to identify who did it, but I never went. I can tell you afterwards I was always looking behind me in the dark (when alone at night) and locking house/car doors for a good 6 months before getting over it. I think the old lady even won free trips to a psychologist b/c of it.

E-thug 4 lyfe!
The detective contacted me when I was in college in West Virginia (the armed robbery happened in NJ) so no way I could get off class to drive 5.5 hours just to identify some loser... plus the old lady went, they didn't need me... Also, I was pissed b/c when the cops came they didn't fingerprint ANYTHING. They just opened the door like it was nothing, highly unprofessional IMO. Another reason why I wasn't too concerned with testifying. My mom called me and told me this guy had been convicted (a year later) for the baseball bat murder and the Texaco robbery, no big shocker there.Originally posted by: TwinkleToes77

Crazy to think about how if things went wrong you might not even be alive today.

People really overestimate the value of fingerprinting. The odds of getting a solid latent print aren't very likely, and certainly aren't good enough to cover a wide area in dust.

Especially in a high traffic area of a supermarket. There is no chance that a viable print can be taken from that kind of area, unless the door was scrubbed squeeky clean right before the robber came in.
