I got robbed this morning

I work for Safeway as a checker. Early this morning about 1:25am. Two masked men with guns asked for all the money. I didn't see them come in cause I was helping a customer and had my back to the door. I heard someone saw "give me your money". I thought is was someone I knew joking around, but when I turned I saw this guy all dressed in black with a black maske and a black semi-auto pistol (9mm or 45cal). He told me to open the drawer and give him the money. I notice the people in line had their hands up as did the security guard. I told him I couldn't because I was in the middle of a transaction and I needed the manager to open it for me. So he told me to call him (its actually a her). So I did and see started to walk up to the front. As I watched her come up to the store the man held his gun to my head and told her to open the register. It took her a second to realize what was going on. See tried to open the drawer, but needed me to press certain keys first. This made the robber a little mad and he kept telling us to give the money and hurry. The drawer popped open and the robber told the manager to put the money in the bag. He asked about the other registers and the manager told him only one was open. They then asked about the key to the booth (where the safe is). the manager explained that she didn't have the key and said she would prove it to him. The robber walked her over to the door and she proceeded to try to open the door with her keys. She didn't have a key. Nobody has a key to the room until much later. They got mad and told everyone to the move to the back of the store. I was worried that they were going to follow us back to the back of the store. I got a sense that they weren't following us and they just ran out the front. We waited in the back for a couple of minutes, someone called 911 and security said it was clear. She locked everyone in the store. As I went to the from of the store I noticed a bunch of police waiting outside, guns drawn. We signaled that it was clear and let them in. There was a couple of guys with M-16s and a few with shotguns. The came in the store looked around and then started asking questions a nd getting statements.

I 've worked in retail type businesses (even gas stations) for about 15 years. My first time every getting robbed. Its really starting to upset me , but I'm not giving in to emotions. I'm going to go back to work tonight. :|

When they said "everyone to the back of the store" I would have sh!t a brick. Usually that is not something you want to hear.

My Aunt was held up a credit union recently. This was probably about a month ago and she was pregnant at the time. Having a gun in her face really upset her and is not an easy event to get over. :Q

Hope all goes well and I think it is good that you are going into work tonight.

Hang in there.😀

wow.
that must have been intense.
good thing no one got hurt or killed.
a corporation's few hundred bucks isnt worth yours or anyone else's life.
good thing no one tried to play hero.
hope they catch em.

Wow I'm glad you're ok! Don't be stubborn and go back to work if you don't feel like it, something like that would shake up anyone.

Jebus--Gun to your head?!! I would've sh1t a brick. Talk about the experience with a good friend or something and make sure you get it out of your system. If the memory becomes a nuisance, I'm sure Safeway has a confidential "Employee Assistance Program" or similar where you can talk to a counselor.

They don't hire off-duty cops to run hustles there at night? All of the 24hr stores around here hire them.

Yeah, I noticed that a cop that I know is always at a certain grocery store, acting like he's shopping. He pretty much just goes through the checkout line with one or two items, then goes back into the store, puts his things back, finds something new, and does it again.

Exactly. Don't even think about being a hero unless there's a PERSON to save. Money is just money, just let them have it. Most aren't willing to kill for it, but that doesn't mean you should give them a reason too.
