i'm saving up for this. i commute on a train to work everyday and this will definitely help pass the time and will provide me with my only gaming time.

i will probably also use it to watch tv shows i've capped.

can't wait.

wow its bigger than I thought...

That is what my gf noticed about the PSp also.

It is a good size to have in your hands imo. Amazing 4'3inch 16:9 screen 😀

$500 isn't that bad to £ imo when it will retail for about £200 for the value kit.

$500 ~ £277 (with one game) so minus £30 minimum for one game.

£200 ~ $360 (no game so plus £30)

I can deal with the loss for 3 months extra game time on my commute 😀. No commute no PSP early that is a given. I would not spend this money if I didn't have a commute. I would have probably picked it up later at 'normal' price and save the £40 or so. It is pretty much my only gaming time.

Hey Koing I notice that you have the Blade DVD. That is an awesome movie, definitely underrated!

A sharp eye I see 😀

Yeah it is a cool movie. I think I'll watch it again soon or in fact encode it to my PSP 😛

test some h264 videos🙂

I have. Just not updated the thread about it.

The quality is decent.

I got Road to Perdition down to 280Mb and it looks GOOD. Quality is good. ONLY down side at the moment is the encoding is limited to only 320x240 so it doesn't take the full advantage of the 480x272 resolution. The movies have 4 display options and so you can watch widescreen stuff in widescreen. The people just look tall and thin but when you watch it on the PSP with the 'widescreen' option the people look normal again.

1) Normal (fits top and bottom but you have black bars on the side): Basically zoom's the 320:240 res to fit the 480x272 top and bottom BUT you have bars on either side.

2) Stretch: Streches the video to fit the whole of the PSP screen. People look 'fat' 😛

3) Widescreen: Unstrettches the 320:240 so you get the right 'look'. So if you encoded a widescreen movie it will look EXACTLY the same as it does on the DVD.

4) Original. Maps 1:1 pixels and you get borders on all 4 sides. For the 'purists' AV guy 😛

It has frame by frame also and slow mo. The frame by frame is a very cool feature for me and something I was hoping they would have in it. Good for analysis of lifting for me.

Can't wait for WipeOut Pure and GT4m 😀

Thank god I pass on the Nintendo DS. I was about to buy it today at Walmart for $150. Luckily, I remembered the PSP is coming to the state soon. Can't Wait, Wifi going to kick ass.

I preordered a PSP with my friend at EB way back in November. They still haven't gotten any info. on the preorder yet. So, without knowing the final price, I don't want to go ahead and preorder another one, especially since there are many rumors that the US version will hit $300 or even $350. Ridiculously expensive for a handheld console. I'd jump on another preorder if the final price is $200 (which is a whole lot more reasonable).

I'm excited about this one, especially with Sony's reputation for large game libraries. I've been debating on whether or not to buy the DS as well, but Nintendo does'nt seem to have a lot of 3rd party developers. It kinda ticks me off because Nintendo makes good hardware in my opinion but with a limited choice of game titles it does'nt do the consumer any good.

see what i'm doing is waiting for the official announcement with price (in canadian dollars) then gonna sell my DS and buy the PSP when it comes out and then buy a DS at regular price in sept (which by then will be about half what it is now)

Koing

this is probably a stupid question but you're playing the movies from the memory stick right?

how much space do you have on the stick?
