Lol
I just ran 3dMark 05 and I got a 7224. Is that pretty good (once again, I've been out of the PC gaming scene for a while now)?
Most of the review sites were getting ~7800 but most of them were testing with FX-55's. Id' say you're a tad low but with some tweaking you should be able to get your score up a little (and hopefully a corresponding increase in game fps). Have you considered ocing your cpu? I ran some benchmarks of HL2 and farCry last night comparing the fps increase from ocing the cpu and the gpu. Kind of interesting. Cpu actually made a pretty big difference in HL2. I'll post the results later today.
If you want to get some accurate bench results in HL2 you can enable the console command under Keyboard Advanced options. Hit the ~ to enable the console and then type in timedemo and the name of the demo you want and hit enter. After the demo has run the console will give you your average fps. You can custom make your own demo files or download the HL2 HardwareOC Benchmark Utility. The utility is nice for easy benching but it can't bench with a 1680x1050 res, which I also use. I just copied the demo files from the benchmark's folders and pasted them into my Valve/Steam/SteamApps/username/hl2 folder. That way the console can see the demo files and you can bench at your native res. Make sure you update the benchmark (has a built in updater in one of the utility tabs) utility before you copy the demo files so you'll get the files for the new protocol 7 engine.
If you feel like doing it, you should post up some results with that method. I'd like to see the potential of that beast.
