I'm a graduating senior in Supply Chain Management at Miami U. of Ohio. Over winter break I applied for an internship position at a big electronics distribution company based in Phoenix, AZ. They were kinda surprised because they rarely get applicants from so far east... and they get about 300+ applicants but only accept less than 10?
Anyway, the recruiter emailed me over Spring Break saying that they were making offers to interns and wanted to know if I was available for the summer. I wasn't sure if this was an official offer, and I called her and told her that I was available. She told me to go apply on their website, and afterwards an HR person will contact me with the paperwork. I said ok and that was the end of the phone call.
So I guess I just accepted?
I'm kind of a late bloomer. Everyone else has already gotten actual jobs, and I'm still in the process of interviewing (badly) with some companies. I just don't have the relevant internship experience like my classmates have because my summers have all been used for taking classes.
So far:
Whirlpool: rejected
Jeld-Wen: rejected, this was especially promising at the time

Petsmart: pending, but probably rejected
Consulting group in Chicago: rejected
Schneider Electric: pending, probably rejected
ABF Logistics: asset-based logistics company, have an interview with them coming up, but not sure if I want to work for a company that is essentially a trucking company.
The internship place is a big player and deals with electronics (Cisco, AMD, Intel, etc), so it's JIT and seems more lucrative than, say, a trucking company and a retailer of pet products. Not to mention it is practically the embodiment of Supply Chain.
So... did I make a good choice? Getting an internship my graduating year when everyone else is getting a solid job? I hope to turn this internship into an actual job offer.
