When I had my wisdom teeth out, I bled for about 24 hours.

Call your doctor if you're concerned.

There is a joke to be had in this ;)

I had my septum straightened a couple years ago. Did they put the butterfly shaped "casts" in your nasal passages? Those were the weirdest things. I felt like Arnold in Total Recall when they took them out of my nose.

Of course, mine was reconstructive too since I broke my nose 3 times before I had it done...

Bled like crazy for awhile, too.

As a Coumadin user and someone who got frequent nose bleeds before being on it I have no sympathy for you. Dripping every few hours, that's nothing. l)

No, no, no. I fill a folded up 4x4 gauze bandage every couple of hours. Once it's full, it drip, drip, drips. If I take it off and hover over the sink, it drips every fifteen seconds or so.

I have an appointment at 8AM to have the packing removed. We'll see how it goes then.

I had my surgery at around 7:30 in the morning. From the sound of things, I bled alot more because I ditched the guaze pad for kleenex. It wasn't until 3:00am the following morning that the bleeding stopped. As long as I didn't lean too far forward the next day, I was okay.

I went in to the Dr at 8:00AM today to have my nose unpacked. He decided to wait until Monday to unpack it because of the bleeding.

The bleeding has slowed, but it hasn't stopped yet.

I thought that they discontinued that surgery since it requires repeat procedures, doesn't really fix the problem.

No, this is a removal of part of the inferior turbinate, not a tissue reduction, but a partial turbinectomy.

Update 4:

I had the packing removed today. I honestly believe this was the most pain I have EVER felt (ever see Total Recall?). But it was a great relief once it was done.

I had been sneezing every time I swallowed with the packing in, and the pain was horrible. Now I can swallow without irritating my nose and sneezing.

Removing the packing was a horror show, with all the clotting and blood coming out with it. And there is no way they can numb you up beforehand.

Oh well, I think I'll go pass out now.

Ugh, that's pretty gross but nowhere near as gross as watching a baby being born. :disgust: I'm glad it's over for ya though, here's to future comfort.

You had to be there. After each one was removed, I promptly sneezed. Do women blow babies and gore out at hyper speed?

The weirdest thing? When I sneezed, my septum split came shooting out too. :(

Was it supposed to come out? I'm clueless here...

About the gore shooting out at hyperspeed, no. But the placenta falls out at 32ft/sec^2. :p

No, it was supposed to stay in another 4-5 days. I hope my septum stays straight. :Q

Falling placentas have nothing on my blood clot and snot projectiles fired from a screaming madman at a horrified nurse.. :p
