the scripts make it a lot more bearable

QFT, I'm running the fixes for:

Categories above Buddies
Visited link colour
Shrinking the left pane and icons
Shrinking the main pane and icons
Alternating thread colours
Grey colour scheme

Major  to those concerned 😀

I also have a fun new hobby of clicking on the monkey icon and making him sad, then happy again 😱

I post a lot less in OT atm, I'm more active in TFI and SB trying to do my bit to improve things for everyone and help 😕 people.

There is a workaround that would please everyone. But, of course, that would take a little bit of work and will never be done. I wish we could have lots of sub-forums like it is now, but, allow people to have an option to display all of the sub-forums in a category at the same time.

For example, I like off topic, and I like the occasional look at YAGTs. But I don't like YAGTs enough to EVER go into that forum. I also like the occasional P&N thread, but I don't really want to go to another forum unless I have something specific to say (I do post in P&N on occasion). So, what happens is I'll never see another YAGT, Off Topic will become slower and I'll enjoy it less. But, if I had the option to see all of the Social sub-forums simultaneously, then I'd see all that I want to see. It would be an exciting place with new things to read with every refresh.

Those who hate P&N and YAGTs would have that grouping option turned off and they'll never see those threads.

Repeat with all of the other categories. You could look at CPUs separately, Networking separately, video cards separately, etc. Or, you could optionally have them all lumped together in a general hardware view. Clearly, I'd choose to lump them all together, but other people like them separate.

I agree. One of the nice things about the old format was there were always hundreds of people posting in OT at any time on all sorts of different topics. You could post in those that caught your interest and refresh the forums to see any new posts. There are topics I'll see that don't catch my interest and then after seeing them bumped a bunch of times I might click on it and find out there is actually an interesting conversation going on and I actually have something to add. This new format splits up the groups and makes the list of people available to see your post much smaller.

If people don't get as much of a response or any response to the threads they create they'll stop coming here.

Oh well, I'm glad to see they've gotten rid of some of the new forums already. Good job on that!

Yeah that was ATOT's niche.........it was kinda like a water cooler.

Really, there are better forums for hot deals or relationships or cars or notebooks or programming.......pretty much everything. It was the eclectic fraternal feel to ATOT that made it almost worthwhile.

what happened to the my forums part? Is there a way to see recent threads that I have posted in?

edit: n/m didn't realize that it was a tab..

Same here.. the scripts only make thigns marginally better but GM's slow nature makes it frustrating when they could have just either left well enough alone or at least fixed the problems people are writing hacked up scripts to fix in the first place. I have a feeling they're not going to bother to fix any of this sh!t and this is 'as-is' until the next 'upgrade'

Looks like we're gonna need a wahbus, I don't think you will all fit in the wahmbulance. But don't worry, we'll stop by wahndy's and get some wahburgers!

And on the way down we?ll drop you off at the infant school so you can play with some playdo and lego. Remember not to eat any of it; it's not good for you, especially the lego. 😉

I would've preferred they keep the old style and just added the subcategories. Or at least left an option to leave it the old way.

I'm not big on the new format, but meh, I guess I just have to admit that I am looking for a YAGT to keep me entertained.

The worst script performance wise was the colour scheme but the whole page is reformatted in under a second for me.

I hope not but I'm not holding my breath either.

But it makes such a great bun for playdo sammiches!

well, since work is so boring i need soemthing to do, but for some reason, and i can't explain it, it feels different. it doesn't feel as fun anymore.

i guess having to click separate forums for things is a bit odd now.

Agreed
I dunno how simple format can make it feel "unfun" but it does.
🙁
Now I'm REALLY bored at work.

I browse less as well, but I think it's because "my forums" doesn't simply list all threads I've subscribed to in order of the one with the latest post, like it used to be.

I have definitely noticed that OT is moving slower than usual. I think it's because they made so many sub forums in categories that made OT so much fun to read.

I always enjoyed a good YAGT or a good thread about audio and video questions. Now with the consumer electronics it's own complete forum, and same w/the love and relationship stuff, a lot of the discussions I used to find enjoyable in OT are now elsewhere, and I don't see myself browsing 5 different forums on a regular.

The reason I like ATOT so much is because you can refresh the first page literally every 10 seconds and find something new to discuss. It's not that quick anymore.

That's a very good idea that would be cool for any forum software to implement. Basically lets the users make their own custom forum views. Awesome.

Not a huge fan of the change either. I didn't really see any reason in changing it in the first place...

The only thing I thought that needed fixed was the damn search feature.
