I find myself browsing AT less now

Homerboy

Lifer
With the new format changes, and the great segregation of forum topics, I find myself here less and less. I know its only been a few days, but everyone I talk to is browsing less and less on the forums, from lifers to newbies.

I'm certain my browsing habits will change (for the better or for the worse I dunno yet).
It just seems they went for changes that not many people asked for.

The programming section is nice I have to admit though 🙂

Wrong forum and there are a couple of threaeds in the Technical Issues Forum already discussing this.

the scripts make it a lot more bearable

my interest was waining before I installed them

I have definitely noticed that OT is moving slower than usual. I think it's because they made so many sub forums in categories that made OT so much fun to read.

I always enjoyed a good YAGT or a good thread about audio and video questions. Now with the consumer electronics it's own complete forum, and same w/the love and relationship stuff, a lot of the discussions I used to find enjoyable in OT are now elsewhere, and I don't see myself browsing 5 different forums on a regular.

The reason I like ATOT so much is because you can refresh the first page literally every 10 seconds and find something new to discuss. It's not that quick anymore.

Just like anything, you have to relearn it. It's :thumbsup: so far.

Re-learn? It's not like they changed the default language to yiddish or something. If a few, mainly cosmetic, changes throws you for that much of a loop, what do you do when you have to post on another BBS that uses different software? Disaster, huh?

I don't have anything good to say.... except possibly that scrollbar that appears inside a persons post is kind of neat.

Man ive only been on a few minutes now, after these changes, and im already annoyed. WTF the forums dont start till like half way down the page now, its all blank when i load it and i gotta like scroll down a bunch.

and whats with putting all the YAGT's in a different category. that was one of my favorite random reads, they always made me laugh or think and amused me at work, now it doesnt look like anyone even posts in that category.

edit. lol i guess i was too quick on the draw about the yagt being blank, i just half to scroll down like 2 pages to see that its not blank.

perfectly said

What's to stop you from visiting other sub-categories if you're curious? I visit most of the forums here... if there's nothing new in OT, i go to P&N. If there's nothing in P&N, i'll head on over to Love and Relationships to make fun of them.

Wrong forum but I like it more now than I did at first, thanks to some tweaks. Having the text background gray now as opposed to white was the best move IMO.

I will say that I'll probably miss out on some threads that I would normally read simply because for OT stuff, I don't see me venturing outside of primary OT forum and the occasional visit to "Love/relationships."

Change can be good and I'm sure everyone will get used to it eventually but I agree that there are now too many subforums.

One stop shops are easier and more efficient. 🙂
Laziness wins over effort every time!

I don't mind the change of pace and I like the extra forums. I hated having everything dumped into general forums.

This is like browsing Anandtech pre-2003 before the site got flooded with people and mostly teenagers and fanboys.

Eh - I'm here less and less often anyways. If anything, the politics and news forum is the only one able to pique my interest enough to keep returning.....

I'm not here any less, I'm just not "here" (as in ATOT) as much. Now that we have a Programming forum (finally!) I spend quit a bit of time over there. But I still frequent ATOT.

yet you found this thread in ATOT 🙂

The new forums changes remind me of someone who believe there is a drawer, closet or a box for everything, but doesn't tell you where they are.
So they organize your things without informing you and you are left attempting to find where everything is and eventually you give up.
Just because all my junk is spread out on my bed and floor does not mean I don't know exactly where it is.

If that makes any sense.
