Hehe, to each their own I guess. Most people who say that just don't know how to use this amp. The first few times I played with it I wasn't very impressed until I started playing around with the mid control. ALL the tone is in that knob right there and you can dial in some pretty sick sounds. I own a Rivera and I still think this rivals it if that tells you anything.

My friend has that same head. I'm not really advanced/good with that type of gear so it didn't sound very great when I messed around with it, but he can wail a bit on it. :)

I purchased a Triple Rectifier head about 5 years ago and ended up taking it back. It was the biggest waste of about $1200 (if i remember right). I was very disapointed in the overall sound quality :( I've still got my 5150 stack. I've changed the tubes in it and it's got some monster low end and a great tight sound. I was so surprised how much better it sounded over the triple rec.

I'm not particulary fond of the triple rec myself, but the thing with mesa's is that you have to tweak them. You cannot just walk up to one and scoop the mids, boost the bass and treble and expect good tone like you can with a marshall. I sat for over an hour fine tuning one tone on one channel just now and the results are mind blowing.

Peavey's just sound like plastic to me :\

That costs more than my guitar...although, my guitar is definitely worthy of being plugged into that head.

Well I lknow Peavey's sound isn't for everyone..but the 5150 has a nice warm sound to it and I've been happy with it. Changing the tubes out does wonders for it.

The Mesa is a nice amp I just didn't get that same kind of warm tone..it was very tin sounding and just not much as warm. I played with it for about a week. The Dual might be a much better amp or hell I could have gotten a crap amp..you never know. Anyways..good purchase and all that matters is that you're happy with it :D
