lol 167 hours... nice... I wish I could say that about me...

start a new xfire account to track your less addicting games. but if I were you I would stay away from online games and just play adventure type "play to win" type console games, which is what I play.

lol naw, no reason to really clear that. Yeah thing is I'm not sure which single player games are good. the last ogod one I played was Fable: The Lost Chapters

I never took the dive into WoW. Just not a big fan of MMORPG's I guess. My only computer game addiction ever was Diablo and Diablo 2 with and without Expansion. Used to make a fair bit selling items or mules on EBay.

Yay for Mephisto runs.

Anyhow, good to see you stopped -passes out some sunscreen for the burning-

I broke my addiction to shadowbane a little while ago. I played 2-3 years probably 6+ hours on the weekday and 12+ on weekends. Summer was probably around 15 hours. 4 full accounts of max levels and tons of money, but then i got hijacked...

oh my god from what I've seen so far now MxO went to hell. This combat upgrade really took alot ouf of the game...

I really enjoyed MxO beta. The fluid combat and awesome moves made it really fun. Too bad, I never leveled up enough to get hyperjump. That would have been awesome to see.

I had four 60's and just recently quit... had it since day one...

I actually had it 2 weeks before you and you only had three 60's! Oh yeah.. Full Tier 2+ Pally, Full Tier 1+ Priest, 60 Rare PvP Set Warrior ... Had a GREAT time playing it, haven't played in months, don't miss it. If I wasn't wasting my time with WoW, it woulda been something else.. and to be honest, WoW is cheaper than the bars 😛

LOL perhaps "gave up for a while" would work better here.

If the developers continue with the same stuff that made me quit the other 2 times, as I expect them to, I'll be back out the door. I do want to see the expansion though.

The game has consumed my life since Aug. 11 2005.

I wonder how much it would show if I always had Xfire on.. since there was a month or so I didn't run Xfire.

I Quit with a 60 Human Mage (PRetty much "epiced out" with preBWL Gear (One T2)
60 Troll hunter ( All greens )
and a 52 Night Elf Hunter

Anyone else play this game and need to quit?

Best way to quite wow is to sell your account. That way your guy is no longer there and you get a few hundred in extra cash.

Bah, you made a horrible mistake! Well, actually, I don't play that much since PVPing zealously (as it's incredibly tedious).

But the problem is thinking that WoW is truly addicting. Someone can become addicted to any sense of a community. Heck, do half of you people who post in this Anandtech Off-Topic forum think that you may peruse the forums a bit too much? That you spend time posting here when you don't have to. The only difference between this and WoW is that you can just ALT+F4 without any sense of repercussion other than not getting your opinion known. In WoW, since there's sometimes direct action with a bunch of other people (partying/grouping), just stopping any time may not be easy.

People who get addicted are looking for an escape, WoW is only a medium to hide their problems. Don't blame the game, blame the person. I don't blame WoW for having about 230 days played when combining my 60s (150 on my Rogue alone). I chose to play. I chose to log on.

EDIT: I did quit at one point and tried to sell. Damn Blizzard made eBay take my auction down. Best advice if you want to sell, never talk to people outside of eBay unless it's a question. I have a suspicion that the one guy who talked to me outside of eBay was actually a Blizzard representative. He kept wanting to see my character in-game and that's a BIG no-no!

After that, I ended up arguing with a Blizzard guy about selling accounts 😛. Did you know that you can't even sell your CDs? If you do so, Blizzard mandates in their ToU/EULA that you must destroy your account.

You spent that much time on WoW and only have one epic character that is still in T1?

I've got five in T2-T2.5 and one T3. =/

Not everyone can stand worthless PVE that much 😛.
