This ties in with whm's comment too... in the majority of cooking and baking, it's recommended to use unsalted butter so you can have better control over the salt level of your dish. I cook all of my meals except for rare occasions, and I only buy unsalted butter.
Well in my case I have watch my salt intake anyway after having a high pressure a few years ago.

Was never really a soda drinker, THANK GOD! Soda destroys the body. I really do think soda will be banned in 50 years. Maybe sooner. Especially when diabities becomes more widespread. When these teens grow up to be adults with diabetes and chronic illness and pain. Most of it will be from HFCS and soda. It's projected that over 40% of the teens today are going to be diagnosed with diabetes, and will be obese. That's insane.

I work with someone whose 50 and drinks soda every morning. I can see the inflammation in her body. Everyday she's complaining about joint pain, etc. Can hardly walk. Overweight, etc Much of it caused by high sugar/soda consumption.

Cold turkey was easiest for me. Soda makes you sick, costs you money, and destroys your teeth. It's not even particularly "fun", it's just addictive, toxic and expensive. At this point, I'm of the opinion of, why would I ever want any amount of this in my diet? I'm at about 15 years without it, and I have no desire to pick it up again.

I rarely drink soda anymore but on the rare occasion that I do I normally will just let myself indulge in the calories and get a regular, not diet, soda (although I prefer a real sugar one if possible). On a whim yesterday I tried a diet soda and couldn't believe how bad it tasted. I really didn't remember them being that bad when I used to drink them. I guess that is a testament to how much your tastes can switch.

So keep up the good work on the purge WHM, eventually you won't crave them anymore and you might even get your flavor profile to change enough that you don't even like the taste anymore.

Sorry for the late response, but I forgot to check this subforum, but thanks for the support. I just wished I had quit soda cold turkey a long time ago.

Maybe start by just cutting back a little. I went to my doctor and he said that after taking a lot of antibiotics it can kill off all your good bacteria. He said take probiotics like Florastor. Then a while back I heard that all that bad food we eat like sugar and bread and preservatives keeps the bad bacteria thriving. I hate to imagine how many foods we eat including tomatoes are bad for us. Anyway they did this study that says the receptors in your brain can be reprogrammed by the bad bacteria to make us crave everything that is bad for us. Even my brain is against me.
