I feel like my 5870 is being wasted. Need a new game.

I've had a 5870 for months now and all I do is play Rome Total War, Left4Dead2 and the heaven benchmark.
Boarderlands has been ok.

I have BFBC2, Dragonage and Dirt2 and they all really fail to spark my interest.

There must be something new and interesting for the PC that can tax my system a little.

Recommend me something. Don't care if it's shooter, strategy or RPG. Anything new.

Mass Effect 1 & 2 won't really tax your system all that much, but they are decent looking games and they are really good as well.

The game that to this day will tax your system is Crysis and Crysis Warhead. Metro 2033 is also really beefy in terms of graphics.

Yes Metro 2033 is the latest game to tax your system. Make sure you turn on Depth of Field as it's too taxing on any system right now.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, both quite a decent game and very taxing on maximum settings (of course especially at high resolutions). Also, Metro 2033, I've never played it, but it's supposedly well within the veins of games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and is also supposed to be very taxing. I believe that the original Supreme Commander remains quite a taxing game (perhaps more on the CPU side though) to this day. Then of course Crysis and Crysis Warhead, or Napoleon: Total War perhaps, and there's also Just Cause 2 (very boring, but very beautiful, no doubt). Additionally, Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II and its expansion Chaos Rising aren't very gently games on pretty much any systems once maxed out (and, again, of course especially at high resolutions).

That's about what I can think of right now. I can't really say that Bad Company 2 is taxing because my own system (quite old by now) can run it very smoothly on maximum settings (although I'm only playing it at 1280x1024, so that may help a lot). I'm sure there's a couple of other taxing titles out there, but basically the higher you'll go in resolutions and the less trouble you'll find to play games that happen to tax your system, that's the basic rule.

Sins of a solar empire @ max with multiple star systems, 100+ planets, vs 9 cpus, max fleet, max tech upgrades with trade ports and refinery buildings on each planet.

Oh yes, it will tax.

lol wut?:hmm:

Just Cause 2 was/is FAR from very boring. I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but in this case you are just plain WRONG. What is your problem?

The "problem" is that I apparently have my own tastes and opinions, other than that it's probably just your imagination.

I have my 5850 overclocked to higher than a stock 5870 and Bad Company 2 seems to have given it the biggest workout. The graphics are superb, the multiplayer is incredibly fun. I had to downclock the card for this game because it stressed the card more than the benchmarks did.

Try any Flash game, that should do it.

Won't even make that 5870 twitch a muscle fiber. My Revo 3610 Ion system easily handles 720p Flash Hulu without a hiccup. C2D T6600, 9400M IGP Studio 14z easily handles 1080p Flash. With 10.1, anyway.

Heck, my phone can play back 480p Flash videos with out a sweat.

And yet, Evony brought my i7 3.8 ghz to its knees. There's more to flash than web videos, flash games are unbelievably piggy.

I once had my life consumed by Rome: Total War. I recently got into Empire: Total War. While I'm not quite addicted to it on the same level as I was with Rome (probably because the unit types in Rome were a lot more fun to play with), it has consumed a rather unhealthy amount of my limited free time.

Recommended for destruction of your social life.

I think that's known for being a huge CPU whore. Like, literally unplayable unless one has a Core i7 at 4ghz

LOL, nah. I was playing it with my stock Q6600 with good success. There are still times when it hits less than 30fps, but it's definitely playable.
