I envy people that can sleep normally

Ambien CR, a bottle of limoncello (damn good fresh batch I might add), and a strong SoCo & Coke.... And my wife is sleeping in there isn't a problem in the world. :| Damn this sucks.

Stress = I've been off for the past month. I haven't taken a Ambien CR in that whole month, hoping to get my system less "used" to it.

Exercise = I walk / bike 3-5 miles a day, diet is, well, it sucks.

FYI, I'm living at 80% disability, insomnia and a skin condition are the majority of it... These things tend to not help things like this.

If he's had insomnia for any length of time I'm sure he's tired of being asked the same damn questions. Lord knows I am, everybody has their own idea on what's wrong and acts as if nobody else has suggested it before. Yes I've already tried exercising more/regularly. I don't eat within X amount of hours before bed. I go to bed and wake up the same time everyday. Yes I establish a bedtime routine. Yes I cut back on caffiene and abstain in the evening. Yes I have tried reading, watching TV, meditating, etc. before bed.

Half the time I don't mention to people that I have insomnia just so I don't have to listen to the bullshit all over again.

I've had this for about 4 years now.

So are you guys just tired but can't fall asleep? Or do u just not feel tired at all. And can you be productive during these hours?

Are you one of those people who take too many drugs for every little thing, care too much about everything, and take life too seriously?

I think he is stressed because he forgot to get his free taco.

I know I am.

LOL. No. I take the drugs I'm supposed to, when I have to. I care about what I have to. And try not to take anything seriously.

It's just frustrating right now is all. ...

Melatonin works pretty well for me. I also try Sleepy Time tea before bed. Not sure how these two in conjunction would measure against something like Ambien, but the first time I took Melatonin I woke up in the morning feeling as if I had rested for the first time in my entire life.

Wow, instead of ingesting all that crap, have you tried using marijuana as a sleep aid?

LOL. I work for the state, so it's not an option. Plusy I don't think Mary Jay would do much for me.

Melatonin doesn't do anything for me. I took Tylenol PM for about 2-3 years before it stopped working for me. Now Ambien CR has stopped working. And it blows.

I mentioned marijuana because it makes sleeping come by infinitely easier (you sleep the moment you get comfortable in bed). Before I started smoking bud, I used to rely on sleeping aids (Walgreens brand of generic Benadryl, but marketed as a sleep aid), which worked very slowly (1.5-2 hrs) and left me very drowsy in the morning. I also tried melatonin, and OMFG, what a mistake. It actually had a reverse effect on my body and I stayed up all night, occasionally slipping into the weirdest, and scariest, dreams of my life.

Btw OP, get ready for some serious dependence on the sleeping pills. The "withdrawal" of weed (when smoked daily, particularly at night) has the same effect too (harder to sleep without smoking bud/taking sleeping pills in the case of the former), but it is pretty minor in comparison and goes away in a day or two.

Yeah, no kidding. I wake up in the morning with a hang over, even though I didn't drink the night before, all because I didn't take the Ambien CR. As much as addiction to sleeping aids sucks, I honestly don't think I have a choice in the matter.

Interesting what you say about your dreams with Melatonin - as its something that is created naturally by the Penial Gland in your brain and "itself has the same indole structure as LSD."

Nonsense, the obvious reason why you can't get to sleep is that you haven't gotten on to a regular sleep schedule and you drink too much coffee late at night.

Fixed. I've known a few people who worked for the state

I think the reason most people are going to ask about exercise is because, logically, you should be able to run to the point of exhaustion. If you can run forever, well, the government might have better uses for you then whatever 9/5 job you're doing now.

Oh yea, FMC check this out. I went to bed at 6PM last night, fell asleep within minutes. Woke up at 11PM because my tv was still on and then fell back asleep 15 minutes later and woke up in the morning at 4AM. 😀. I was tired last night from a lack of sleep earlier in the week.

I loathe you...

coke is not what will help you sleep. 😛 Try not to eat/drink anything a few hours before bed. Do a few late nights as you'll be more tired the day after so it will be easier to fall asleep.
