Funny story:
Sometime in early january, I bought a cheapy Logitech Quickcam Express and downloaded some software from Camarades (camarades.com I think). I played with it for a while, and just left my cam running more often than not. I got the usual IMs and chat room come-ons from sickos and the like, but I also met some cool people.
One night, someone IMs me simply saying "I think you're hot!". I immediately assumed this was another pervert, but I play along with this kinda crap for fun. After talking to it for a while, I was left with a reasonably strong impression that they were who they said they were: a teenage girl with about 1 year on me. After we talked for several weeks constantly, I finally bothered asking her where she lived. Her response stunned me. She lived in another part of my town about 20 miles from my house!
Now, I didn't have any real confirmation yet that this person was who she said she was, but I had reasonable evidence to assume she was. When I got a picture of her... it turns out she's stunningly beautiful. And I mean incredible! (Yes, I've still got the pic, and I'll post it if I find it again). Her high school was going to run in a track meet against our school in the next month, so we decided to meet there. That way, it was assuredly a large and public place, so neither of us could kidnap the other... 🙂
About a week before the track meet, I get an email from her stating, "I got hurt, and I can't come to the track meet, I'm sorry!" This seemed too convenient to be true, and things seemed even more suspicious when I didn't see her online for ~3 months. I figured I had just been played, so I moved on with my life.
Here's where things get interesting: Last saturday, I saw her screen name show up on my buddy list. I got one of my friends to IM her, and check out what she says about herself. He says to me, "She says she lives in LA." I was thinking, "OK, so it WAS a joke. Oh well."
Just then, he says, "Wait, she says she moved here from XXXXX XXXX earlier this year. Something about her dad's job getting transferred." He then gave her my screen name, and she proceeded to IM me and say almost verbatim, "I still really like you! When we moved, I lost your screen name. I was so sad."
This is where I decided someone hates me. And to make matters worse, she then said, "If we had actually gotten to meet, you would've been my first." How's THAT for making a teenage guy want to cry? I mean, my God. I finally meet some really cool chick, and she gets hurt and has to move away before we even get to meet one another in real life!
Anyways, I just wanted to share my story with some people. I realize most of you are horribly insensitive, but I just needed to vent. Ugh. She's 2300 miles away.
P.S. She might be coming back for a week during the summer. Maybe something good WILL come of this! 😉
EDIT: Pic is Here . Gotta love glamour shots.
