I'm not familiar with the AMD procs...should it be missing pins and have a bent edge like that?

You might just get away with it, but really it's down to trying it and seeing if it works as it may well not work.

The pins are in tact. As long as the damage to the corner is not affecting anything internally, it should still work. The only way to be sure is to test it.

I would suggest you test it...even if you did bend a pin, it should still work OK. I knew a friend who manually bent back a few pins on his A64 and it still worked fine afterward, overclocked and all.

It looks like you separated some of the PCB layers. I do believe that this processor has gone to a better place.

the pins are not bent very much. i had a similar processor
oops, the pins were more bent. i used the ZIF (CPU) socket
to straighten them out, after using needle-nose pliars and/or
tweezers to get them close to their nominal/ normal position.

i very much doubt that any damage was done to any significant
interconnect or functional part, from the shock of dropping it.

i'll bet 2 Linden Dollars that it's OK.

Did you dropped the processor on hard concrete floor or something? Because the corner look pretty beat up.

I have had several cpus run fine with missing pins, from 486s to pentium pros. I never trusted any floating point calcs but everything ran fine. Give it a shot, ya never know!

I dont think it'll even sit flush with that corner.

There is always a heat sink to hold it onto position

why not just sand the edge?

the important part on that entire pcb is the rear pins, and the top die.

The corners mean almost nothing.

Try shaking it to see if you snapped a internal resistor off. Theres a lot of resistors inside that IHS.

Give it a rip. I don't think there is much important at the PCB corner you bent up. Straighten the pins and see what happens. "Do you feel lucky punk, well do ya?"

it might be alright. it doesn't look like there wa any damage to the pins but only to the corner which is irrelevent in most cases. only way to know for sure is to try it out. you have nothing to lose.

The pins look alright, hopefully the bump doesnt raise the pins too high off the socket, best bet is to just try.
