I like to ride through quiet neighborhoods revving my engine and making it as loud as possible while setting off multiple car alarms, often in the middle of the night.

Am I cool or what?

Well it's illegal for them to be as loud as most of them are but cops don't bother them for that. They only get the cars for loud mufflers.

those companies keep it for "character". That, and the customers looking for that kind of bike, demand that "character" feature, as shown in the more silent models of the same 'Harley' style that have terrible sales.
 
But where else will I satiate my primitive desires to make loud noise, so as to scare away potential rivals?
Good old-fashioned chest-beating just doesn't impress the kids these days.

It's whats called a "rhetorical question". I'm pretty sure everyone already knows the actual reason why they are still loud in this day and age.

I tend to aim for bike with loud pipes to shut them up. It's irritating, and a bike with exhaust loud enough to HURT though closed windows when going under an overpass should be illegal.
 
If I EVER lived next to someone who owned something like that I would make sure they woke up to flat tires every morning. A small penis is NO reason to force a loud noise on anyone and everyone in your neighborhood at all hours of the day
