You know just that same ole racist, "he's a minority so he must work here" stuff. Well except for the security, they know better. I come in and their ears perk up and they start sniffing about, "Yeah, Jeb we got us a chicken thief in footlocker." Well you get the point.

Here have a cookie, for realizing that racism is bad.

 I couldn't begin to count the times I have been asked for help or for a certain size while I was just casually shopping in American Eagle. I swear, it's happened three or four times.

Idiots and racists?

You know, I didnt even think of it as being a racist comment. I thought of it more as a couple of inner city punks who were up to no good

Yep, same crap has happened to me in plenty of stores. But it really got on my nerves when I was doing loss prevention at The Home Depot, I was undercover, dressed in dirty clothes doing the best I could to look like a contractor and people would think that I worked there. Duh, am I wearing a big orange apron?? I'm white btw.

Since they saw you in 'their' mall with your black friend, they assumed that you were too scared to go there by yourself, so they wanted to beat your a$$ because you shouldn't be there because it's 'their' mall, and because you not only brought someone with you protect them, but also because he was black, so it's kind of like you're using one of their own to protect yourself from them. All of this just pissed them off enough to want to beat your undoubtedly racist and repressive white a$$.

They were also pissed because you might be spending some money at THEIR mall.. bringing money to THEIR community.. Thus bringing all your rich-ass white problems to the area.

You know, I didnt even think of it as being a racist comment. I thought of it more as a couple of inner city punks who were up to no good, trying to pick on a out-of-place "white" guy in a predominantly black mall. The thing is, if these two guys were kids, fine, kids and teenagers might not know better. But my friend was telling me that these guys looked like they were in their late 20's. These were adults.

It isnt, sounds like its just a sh1tty area with sh1tty people.

You aren't implying that their actions weren't racially motivated, right?

It certainly sounds like it was. However, I have seen my share of white/hispanic people doing the very same thing.

And they would be racist as well. I am not trying to single a certain group of people out. It just seems hypocritical of society in general if we can't say that these guys were acting in a racist manner.

Not to bring up the imus thing, but seriously.

Nappy head ho's = OMG RACIST!

"look, the white guy is scared to walk into the black mall without his black friend." = well, they were just assholes.

I didnt mean to imply that I dont agree with you, because i do.

Well, if you stopped lusting after teh Nikes and dressed a little more fly, you wouldn't have those problems. :)

You may be right, it could have been my gold grill and shirt the size of a dress that signaled to them that I was a thief. Wait, scratch that, I dress better then most white boys. I'm from Queens NY and here you will find a lot of Caucasian kids that dress more hip hop-ish then anyone else. I like to call their look, Play-doh Thug Chic. It?s a mix of apple pie stupidity with a pinch of Blaxploitation. Now footlocker was more or less an example because you'll find me more often then not in Casual Male XL, one of the few places that carry my shoe size. Yes I'm Black and I have large feet. Just for the record, being mistaken as someone who works in American Eagle Outfitters is not really offensive. The worst that could be implied is that you don?t look like you can afford the clothes. Now if say I was in Barnes and Noble and someone came over and asked where they could find the Fitness book section, I think I'd have the right to be a wee bit pissed. At best they think I look like the average brown worker, at worst they assume I couldn't possibly be there for a book.
