Honestly I used to have one because my wife liked it... both the way it looked and the way it felt. I shaved it off when I started interviewing again but she may compel me to grow it again in the future.

I have one for a simple reason: my wife likes it. In return, she does her hair the way I like it. So in the end, it translates into more sex, and therefore I have kept it for the last year or so.

I look like my avatar. I wear a goatee or full beard because I look like I'm a toddler without any facial hair. Very, very few people have any influence on how I wear my hair / facial hair, nobody in this thread included.

Most guys think they can pull it off - only a select few can, and the odds are that you can't.

I think that many guys who grow them - or attempt to - think they look "cool" but they really just look awful, sloppy, unkempt, and so forth on most guys. However there are cases where they do look good, but again I do think in many, if not most, cases they don't look good at all; or rather they just don't work for that particular guy.
