Whenever I am actually starting to move around a lot and fire at shit in Rage, I kinda go, "oh [wow], gonna hurl."

Anyone else have certain games that do that? I mean, I have played Unreal Tournament FFS and that's one of the most look everywhere and possibly hurl FPS games you could play, but I wasn't even phased by it. Rage makes me kinda uneasy though. :(

No profanity, please

Incorrect aspect ratio can do that. Happened to some people with bioshock back in the day. So it is not unheard of.

With Rage it feels like the field of view is just off somehow. I can't place it on how exactly, but it feels like it.

Some people just can't handle certain fields of view. Try this:

3# How To Change FOV in Rage
You can either change FOV to your liking through developer console or by editing your default CFG or you can add the command in your launch options. If you choose to do so through dev console, it will disable achievements. Using developer console disables achievements so use it in absolute necessity.

If you want to change the FOV through console, bring it up in-game, and use cvaradd command to change the g_fov variable. You can add or subtract fov values from the default 80. For example, cvaradd g_fov 15 will result in g_fov 95 since you added 15. Similarly, cvaradd g_fov -15 will subtract 15 from default 80 value and the resulting g_fov will be 65. I hope you got the point.

If you don’t want to mess up your achievements, you can add these values in your default config file, which is located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base Or you can add these values in your launch options.

Borderlands does that shit to me. I won't even play it anymore. Makes me want to vomit.

I get sick during fps when the motion is too fast, like you're on skates. Half Life and RtCW are 2 examples of that. When the motion speed is more life-like, such as in FEAR, I'm fine.

The camera bob in Stalker made me want to puke too, but I usually just plowed ahead until it passed. It would usually take like 5 minutes to go away.

You are not alone OP.

I've been playing games since Atari 2600 and C64 days.. none have ever done that to me until Rage, fine with everything else I have ever played though

I used to get that back with System Shock 2. And again with Half Life. Never did figure out why, but what was said above makes a lot of sense.

The original Return to Castle Wolfenstein would make me want to puke if I played it for 10 minutes or more. I felt like I had vertigo and wanted to pass out.

I'm happy to say that video games have never made me sick. And I've played all the way through this.

That's not to say that sitting around and playing video games all day hasn't had an adverse effect on my health...

I ramp up FOV to 100+ playing at 16:10

the more post-movement momentum a game has after releasing movement keys, the higher the FOV I need to offset the the development of a head ache and/or lots of burping

I didn't know Bioshock was known for that. I've played fps and all types of games forever and Bioshock was the first one that started getting to me after a while.

I remember back in the day, a friend couldn't play the original Doom because of motion sickness. I couldn't believe it at the time, but I guess some people are more sensitive than others.

I get vertigo from Borderlands when falling from high up. Skyrim did a couple of times but wasn't consistent and I can't think of any other games that did that to me. Can't recall if it happened with the default FOV in either, but I tweaked both in that respect. \

I'm not afraid of heights or anything, so it was pretty disconcerting how my stomach kinda fluttered/turned a bit. It actually wasn't really a bad feeling, its like a really subdued version of what you get on the first drop of a roller coaster.

One of my friends and his brother used to get motion sickness from Timesplitters 2 or 3. An hour of playing it would give his brother a migraine.

I've had other people get motion sickness watching me play id games. They specialize in 60fps games like Rage, while most games use more motion blur to hide the lower 30fps. Blurs don't make you dizzy, its dizziness that turns everything into a blur. Turn up the motion blur and you might find the game makes you less dizzy.

I had the same thing happen with Half-Life 2, and I started noticing other games causing the same problems after that.

For me, it is usually the result of having too low of a FOV. Other factors include framerate, motion blur, and so on.

Try Trackmania for a while. I can only handle so much and then have to go for a walk.

That is funny you mentioned Bioshock as that game was the first to damn near make me puke 20 min into the game. I always figured it was a FOV thing, but didn't care to ever look anything up on it. I bought it dirt cheap on Steam and blamed it being a shitty port. I'd like to say that I should look up the fix...but nah, I'm over it. Now it just sits in my steam folder unused.

I am now experiencing the same thing with Metro 2033. I fixed the FoV but i can't play more than 20 min at a time. I think it might be motion blur..not sure and don't care. My wife got me a PS3 for Xmas, so I've been playing demons souls with any gaming free time I have and no sickness problems there.

That's interesting. I've been playing games for over a decade, and never suffered from motion sickness, though I've yet to play Rage. Now I'm tempted to try it hehe.

Borderland's FOV never bothered me, but I increased it anyway so that I can see more.

Borderlands is the first game to make me sick, I think. I didn't realize it was the FOV, so maybe changing that will make it better. I'll try that later if it is possible and play the game again.

I remember when Descent first came out. It was the first true 3D game I had ever played, and I did get dizzy for a bit while getting accustomed to it.
