The difference in your examples, is adult consent vs unconsenting bodies, and children who cannot consent.

I can't think of any legitimate reason why gays shouldn't be conservatives. I have a gay friend who thinks I'm a flaming liberal. Both parties have their bigots.

they supported bush the first time around because they believed his lies about being a compassionate conservative. someone who would as he said, leave it up to the states to deal with such matters. but instead, he's shown his true colors going for absurd amendments to the constitution many are reconsidernig.

Come on... getting married is not a right. How does it make a gay man less of a citizen if he can join his lover in a 'civil union', whereas a man and a woman can get 'married'. It's just a different word, it's not like they are using different bathrooms. I'm not homophobic by any means. I know its cliche to say it, but it's true. and here comes the biggest cliche... I have gay friends.
Whatever. I honestly don't understand why gay people would want to get 'married' anyway, if it's not for the tax incentives. I understand that they would want to pledge their commitment, but why would you want to use an archaic tradition that doesn't even acknowledge you? to fit in? to feel normal? to feel like your relationship is validated?
And if people think getting married assures commitment from their lover, they are crazy...
Let me know how crazy I am, because these are just natural thoughts. Help me out with other ways to look at this.
