The Postal Service is an Agency of the US Government, not a true private corporation. Perhaps this question should be posed to the politicians that are busy running their mouths about mismanagement of private corporations. While you're at it ask them about those other fine GSEs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Congress will just make another little show for the public, and won't change a damn thing.

If they didn't get those bonuses they would leave and business would be much worse.

Let them leave, they aren't doing their job well enough.

Fine, so they leave.

How are they going to attract top talent to run this given that their current compensation is well below market value?

Like the value of its company...Market value has dropped to 10% of its former value.

Bonuses may be stipulated into the contract and may not necessarily be based off of purely profitability. Unless we know the specifics in the contract we're only talking out of our butts even though they may not deserve it.

You mean to say that if someone is promised a bonus they should always get it b/c it's been stipulated? Hmmm... like that always happens.

If it's written into a contract, then yes. Some of us drones are promised* a bonus too.

But that little "*" after our promise has a whole slew fine print and triggers associated with it that the CEO/President/exec/ect doesn't have.
