Ok, so I've had a pet turtle (red eared slider) for a few years now. He's semi-aquatic and well, is massive (size of a dinner plate). I recently moved into a new apartment and while I was at it, upgraded Dr. Mombo's living conditions. I went from a 50 gal. tank up to a 85 gal. pond liner and got him some nicer rocks for the bottom and whatnot. So the pond is indoors and I have both UV A and B covered, as well as a heat lamp and vegetation. Well, Mombo is a little odd about his tankmates, he will scarf down any algea eater I try to introduce to the tank but will only eat MOST of the goldfish I put in. He's allowed 3 particular goldfish live and they've grown quite large as well. Well this evening when I walked over to turn the lights off for the night I noticed something small moving around in the tank. Upon a closer look I realized my goldfish had bred. I googled goldfish breeding and from what I can tell I just had a stroke of dumb luck. While moving the fish, they experienced a cool period followed by the warming period of being introduced to the pond. This induced them to mate and luckily my pond was large enough that none of the fish (or Dr. Mombo for that matter) ate the eggs.
