I did not know that Ted Turner was this NUTS

We all know that Ted Turner is a complete social leftist, but he seems to have passed Norman Mailer.
He said the attacks were an act of desperation, and that Americans lack an understanding of a willingness to die for one's country. "I think they were brave at the very least," Turner said of the 19 airliner hijackers believed to have committed the attacks, adding that they "might have been a little nuts."
Turner, in a lecture at Brown University, also compared President Bush to Julius Caesar.

How does he figure that? Bush and Ceasar are nothing alike.

He's just a nut.

My favorite line was made by a reporter that asked him since he is so into enviromentalism would he consider opening his HUGE amount of land in Montanna to the public and he said "This is America, we believe in private property" LOL

Sweet revenge would be if the enviromental wackos found an endangered tree sloth on his property and annexed his land for government control like they have done with others in the west 🙂

He might have some point there, but I´m not sure because its hard to say what he means by comparing bush with cesar.

Actually, environmental groups won't touch Ted Turner because he is a HUGE contributor to their causes. This despite the fact that he holds "Buffalo Hunts" for wealthy friends at a high price on his land. There was a column that detailed the many things that Ted Turner does on his land that environmentalists would be throwing hissy fits over it if was anybody but their main financial contributor.

Ted Turner lives a life that is closer to a Russian Czar than a socialist. He has basically said, stay away from my land unless you are rich. At the same time, he promotes all these ideas that take away basic private property rights and the ability for people to buy land.

hehe he spoke at my brother's graduation ceremony at UGA. he was all like "it's a shame you guys spent 4+ years getting a degree and you're gonna all die in a nuclear war in the next few years" and stuff like that. totally spaced out from his original speech (if he even had a pre written speech).

So this is what people who give money to the UN think. I always knew it was a corrupt, evil institution! 🙂

Could be worse, though. Oliver stone says it' (Afghanistan conflict) is a conspiracy of oil moguls to keep the US distracted.

He always gives speechs in which he says something to offend someone. And then later on he always says that he didn't mean what he said. He's a jackass, but he gets away with it because he's Ted Turner.

And the people who carried out the attacks did not live in adject poverty. But what does a billionaire know about abject poverty anyways?

EDIT: The United States feeds so much of the world, and still we're treated like absolute garbage.

i lost all interest in Ted Turner when AOL stripped him of his powers over running the Braves... no more open checkbook 🙁

In this story about the speach, it says, "Turner then asked for a show of hands from those who would act as suicide bombers for their country, but none were raised, the Providence Journal reported."

Just another eccentric billionaire, bigoted against Christians. If he was so outspoken about Muslims, for example, CNN would probably be boycotted by association.

turner is an ASS, but he is right that what those hijackers did was not cowardly evil yes but not cowards, at least the one's that knew they were going to crash.

What I would like to hear is someone ask him if he thought bin laden was a coward?

Apparently he said poverty had a lot to do with it. That's an interesting statement given the millions that bin laden has and the fact that a lot of the terrorists/hijackers were middle to upper class educated kids. I'm glad I don't have cable and that that a55hole doesn't get any of my money.
