Come October you are going to see hit ads with guy being shown in heavy Jewish areas in South Florida and perhaps around Ohio.

Since the Democrats have to win one of those two states to win the White House it is very possible that this could sink Obama's chances.

Interestingly, the areas where this would hurt Obama the worse, deep south, are areas where Obama most likely has little chance to begin with and thus this stuff won't really matter.

As for the OP, I don't understand that logic at all.

Obama is winning the D primary.
Obama polls better against McCain than Hill does.
Obama has less crap in his closet than Hill does.

But he should drop out?

Senator Rockefeller of West Virginia endorsed him a couple of weeks ago.

Just politics as usual in America.

Kerry a war hero? HAHAHHAHA

I'd say Wesley Clark is a much bigger hero for his accomplishments (strategic) than Kerry ever was, but Kerry served honorably and with pride, what the FUCK have you done?

I despise you for that comment, in a way that your lazy arse will never even get.

We have war heroes on this very forum, several of them are mods, now laugh at them and tell them how you have earned the right to laugh at people who have been in battle.

With that said, his speech was great. I agreed with most of it but then realized he wouldn't have had to do the speech if it weren't for his moral compass. He's always been a politician, and if you thought he was anything more than that you are just another member of the disillusioned masses.

I saved this thread for later, so I can bring it back from the dead come June and point the finger and laugh ;)

Democrats have dominated this election process in terms of how many have voted. What was it, only 1 state outvoted democrats so far? So you are saying that once Hillary is out, all of those supporters will switch to republican? AHAHAHA. Nice logic.

Umm... I don't pull things out of my ass...
http://rasmussenreports.com/pu...idential_tracking_poll

Looking ahead to the General Election in November, John McCain continues to lead both potential Democratic opponents. On Friday morning, McCain leads Barack Obama 49% to 41% and Hillary Clinton 51% to 41% (see recent daily results). New polling from Minnesota shows a very close race in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. With those new poll results, Minnesota moves from Likely Democratic to Leans Democratic in the Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator.

RCP shows it one point the other way... with Obama losing by 10 and Hill losing by 9. So in a statistical way you could make your argument. I still object to this "Hill is the chosen one therefore she should win by default" logic. BO is going to win the nom. Get used to it.

Kerry's war hero status is very much in question... not to mention how he flat-out shit on his fellow soldiers when he came back from Vietnam. How would you feel if one of your own came home and painted you and yours as a war criminal for his own political gain?

That's Kerry's legacy... that and marrying money. Other than that he's an empty suit that self inflicted at least two of his purple hearts. I'll give him props for voluntering to go... but you have to accept his overwhelming desire to leave and the fraud that happened to send him home.

It appears no one's posted this. There is a link on Youtube to Jeremiah Wright's actual sermon that day. I had searched for it, because I figured it's always best to listen to an entire video and hear the context, but I didn't find it earlier . I have said to others that if there's any lesson we should learn from this election, it is that the media is extremely biased, regardless of which candidate you support (that is whether in favor of or against your candidate). I realized this many years ago, but for many Americans, this realization has not occurred - even at the present.

I think this also supports Obama's claim that he was not at the pews on that day. Had he been there, I would suspect that he would have known the context of the sermon.

Here's the context for you (it was actually a quote from an ambassador, Ambassador Edward Peck, interviewed by FOX news): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...zkeoyQ&feature=related

Shockingly, a CNN reporter did his job:

Looks like it is getting worse for Obama, despite claiming that he never heard his pastor Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. preach hatred it looks like he was present in the pews when he did.

Obama Attended Hate America Sermon

Clarification: The Obama campaign has told members of the press that Senator Obama was not in church on the day cited, July 22, because he had a speech he gave in Miami at 1:30 PM. Our writer, Jim Davis, says he attended several services at Senator Obama's church during the month of July, including July 22. The church holds services three times every Sunday at 7:30 and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central time. While both the early morning and evening service allowed Sen. Obama to attend the service and still give a speech in Miami, Mr. Davis stands by his story that during one of the services he attended during the month of July, Senator Obama was present and sat through the sermon given by Rev. Wright as described in the story. Mr. Davis said Secret Service were also present in the church during Senator Obama's attendance. Mr. Davis' story was first published on Newsmax on August 9, 2007. Shortly before publication, Mr. Davis contacted the press office of Sen. Obama several times for comment about the Senator's attendance and Rev. Wright's comments during his sermon. The Senator's office declined to comment.

If this turns out to be true and he lied in his speech to the whole world it could very well be the end of his campaign as he would indeed be unelectable and this claim could easily and should be verified by the Secret Service one way or the other.

Fault him all you will, but when people look at him, hear him, watch him they see a different type of politician, which is very refreshing indeed.

I agree. I am sick to death of the typical politician who ignores me as an individual and just postures and panders to a crowd. America is in a downward spiral and we need someone who can stop the hemorrhaging to limit the damage before its too late.

The issue of what Obama said about his grandmother is being taken out of context and blown out of proportion. It's like people are desperately trying to justify their hate for someone by sprouting illogical nonsense that only seems reinforce themselves as stubbornly small-minded.

I think Obama is eloquent, smart, and has every characteristic a good leader should have. I don't hate Hillary or McCain, I just think Obama would make a much better leader.

If you asked me if I was at a sermon a specific day I couldn't tell you either if I had a schedule like Obama's. If you asked me if a sermon had racial undertones on specific days when I habitually zoned out the political aspects I didn't agree with then again I would probably not know.

People are blowing this whole sermon thing out of proportion and it makes me sad that distractions like this get in our way of tackling the real problems with America.

Apparently, Bill Kristol cited the report from NewsMax article in his New York Times column. He has since had to retract his statement

In this column, I cite a report that Sen. Obama had attended services at Trinity Church on July 22, 2007. The Obama campaign has provided information showing that Senator Obama did not attend Trinity that day. I regret the error.

I don't think simple (D) voting numbers explain the whole story. Considering McCain was running against what has to be the worst field of (R) candidates in history I don't think there was much incentive for R's to get out and vote. Who was going to beat him? Huckabee? Paul? Once Romney dropped out the race was over. Don't get me wrong, I hope you're right, but I don't think it will be easy either way.

Just got off the phone with mom and bro on a 3 way call. During it my mom asked me if I was still supporting Obama after hearing about the minister. It's unfortunate but smear campaigning works. :(

Even more trouble for Obama apparently his Church printed the Hamas Manifesto in support of them.

Obama blasts Hamas op-ed

A pro-Hamas op-ed printed in his church's bulletin is "outrageously wrong," Barack Obama said.

In an issue dated July 22, 2007, in a section titled "Pastor's Page," the church reprinted an article by Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzook in which he justifies Hamas' withholding of recognition of Israel's right to exist. The article originally appeared as an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times.

The church's pastor, Jeremiah Wright, who retired this year, has already stirred controversy for the U.S. senator campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination with earlier statements likening Israel to colonialists and blaming attacks on the United States in part on its support for Israel.

"I have already condemned my former pastor's views on Israel in the strongest possible terms, and I certainly wasn?t in church when that outrageously wrong Los Angeles Times piece was re-printed in the bulletin," Obama said in a statement emailed to JTA late Thursday, and referring to critics who noted that Obama had been in church when Wright had made controversial statements.

Wonder how long before someone shows he was in church then too?
