First of all, my condolences...rapists are one of those groups of criminals I think need to be executed in the most painful manner possible. Dipped very slowly into molten copper, feet first, seems like a good idea. I honestly don't know how people can be so warped they do things like that, it makes me fvcking sick.

Rape is about power, not sex. Most rapists have trouble with women/life in general, and they become frustrated because a "real man" is supposed to be able to get a girl whenever the urge hits. Obviously we all have varying success with the opposite sex, but rapists usually have much worse than average success. The thing that seperates them from the ugly, awkward guy who just can't get any is that rapists are unable to deal with their feelings of un-manliness.

The problem isn't that sex is a taboo in our culture, the problem is that not everyone can be a ladies man, even though society tells us that's exactly what men are supposed to be. Men who have trouble getting women aren't frustrated just because they aren't dealing with their sexual emotions, they are frustrated more because it's considered very unmanly not to be able to get the girl, even if they don't realize it. But most normal people accept that, it takes a person disconnected from reality to break the barrier between what they want and what they can have.

And what the hell IS your solution anyways? Sex is something between two (or more) consenting people, if a girl doesn't want to have sex, that's not a "problem", that's her choice. Are you saying sex should be more casual? Maybe so, but *I* sure as hell am not going to tell women (or men for that matter) how they should feel about sex. The real solution is to have people accept who they are instead of feeling un-manly because of it.

Thank you all for your replies. I'm really just in shock that it happened to her and I can't imagine how the rest of the family feels. I have a knot in my stomach just from thinking about it. I mean, why do we always let sex offenders out to rape again? Their rate of recidivism is extremely high.

There are few things that i believe are truly unforgivable, rape is one of them.

So sorry for your friends Mill.

in those cases though, its only considered justifiable if its done "in the heat of passion". if there's a hint of premeditation, you can kiss your ass goodbye.

I think in Grisham's book A Time to Kill it was pretty pre-meditated how he killed those rednecks, but I can't really say I have a problem with it.

THANK YOU. It's about time someone made these extremely valid points, including the one that's bolded.

Sorry to hear about the rape, Mill.

Some things are worth it...if someone raped a GF, close friend, or family member, I don't even want to think about what I'd do.

all i know is that if someone raped my gf, or my sister, or any girl that i know ... i would want to kill them. i am not saying i would, because i sure as hell would not, but i would seriously want to hurt them.

You've got much better willpower than I probably would.

Guys - buy the women in your life pepper spray! I can't stress it enough. Do it now and teach them how to use it!

Sorry to hear, Mill. It makes me furious just thinking about it. Large apartment complex? They no doubt were making a lot of noise. It really steams my veggies to think someone may have heard something but did nothing.

I did. I got her police-issue pepper spray and she couldn't care less whether she carried it with her or not, even though she was being stalked and followed. :|

Damn that's dumb. If my mom or gf tried some sh!t like that I'd have one of my friends follow and scare the crap out of them. They wouldn't forget it twice...

I shaved my head, grew a longer goatee and put on my leather jacket. I ate at her restaurant on a regular basis, making sure to do so when he was working and making sure that other friends of hers pointed me out when I was there to him and to seat me in his section of tables. He came to refil my water one of the first few times I was there. I looked up at him, grunted, and said through clenched teeth that if he ever laid a hand on her or harrassed her again, that I would personally find him and give him a reason not to do so again.

From that day, he avoided me like the fvcking plague and started backing off her.

I've had an aunt and a couple GFs that have gone through it. I really doubt I'd stop to think twice about killing the responsible party if it ever happened to one of my daughters.
