I CAN'T SLEEP

</mancard>

I just killed an INSANELY scary looking spider. This motherfucker is not your run of the mill daddy long legs (extermination method of choice: backhand) or annoying fast tiny spider. He had a BIIIIIIIG abdomen, rather menacing looking, and big ass legs. I can't sleep. Holy fucking shit. I want the annoying june bugs back (the ones outside have turned green, turns out they were june bugs after all), I HATE SPIDERS.

I hate that feeling you get after killing a big spider, like somethings constantly crawling on you even when nothings there.

Anyone know where I can buy bulk, alternator sized daddy long legs? I guess I shouldn't have killed the one I found here when I moved in, apparently he was eating all of the other nasty spiders, and poses no threat to humans.

I think it's a brown recluse! But he's squashed beyond identification 🙁

ROFL!!

I doubt it was a Brown Recluse, as they're reclusive ;^)

You find them in wood piles, and under your junk in the attic.

Get a gecko or other insect-eating lizard. Don't feed for one day, then let loose in attic/basement with rfid tag for locating. Problem solved.

One of the labs I worked with were discussing about getting a "lab gecko" for this reason. They had heard/seen another lab that got a gecko to keep down the "pest" populations in a rather stingy campus. I don't know how feasible it is to let a gecko run loose in the house as to how dangerous it is to the gecko and how reliable its food supply will be.

Tropical areas are nice, except for the insane humidity and crazy bugs and animals.
I would never live in Florida by choice.

My parents are from India, and my dad is from a state called Kerala, which I call the "Florida of India". The backwaters of Kerala are a lot like the Florida Everglades.

Don't worry young grasshopper. When you're older, and you find the right post (you'll know when you see it) it will happen to you, too.

Where in Florida did this happen?

And for all Florida bashers ... I've lived here since 1966. If you can stand the hot, humid summers (from June through late September the rest of the year more than makes up for it. Of all the places I've traveled to (including SoCal, phoenix, Vegas, etc.) Florida would be my first choice. My favorite time of the year (here in Florida) is February. it's the best time to lay out and get a tan.

I have lived in Florida my whole life, the only people I knew of with bug problems were income challenged or slobs.

It was probably a huntsman spider. I kill them daily at my place (East-Central Florida).

The only bugs that freak me out are roaches....

Florida is home, of course I love it. I just hate the spiders. And June Bugs. I like cockroaches, they are fun to squash, but this apartment complex is too clean for roaches 😛

Actually, I am a slob.

Are you kidding? Roaches are on my long list of bugs I don't mind. I don't see too many here though, I try and keep the place clean. Still fun to squash. I hate spiders...

WAY too small to be a huntsman. This thing was maybe dime sized, with legs extending a little bigger than a half dollar.

When we lived in Florida, I crushed a big motherfucker with my face while sleeping once. Didn't even notice until I woke up and looked in the mirror.

I was like "OMGWTFGETITOFFMEAAAUUGGH!"

I don't mind spiders, but have a burning hatred for roaches. I've spent hours in the middle of the night hunting down wayward roaches before.
