Don't try to sleep, it only makes it worse. Just stay up and do something until you get tired. I'm in bed on my computer right now waiting to get tired. It will come in a bit.

I would suggest something like this, but do it in a different room. The worst thing for a person to do wh ohas trouble sleeping is to have their brain associate the bedroom with something other than sleep or sex.

OP, how long as it been since you've slept? If it is just tonight, I wouldn't worry about it. After 2 days, I'd be concerned. 4 days without sleep I start calling the docs.

I do it in my bed because if I get up to walk, I'll be awake again. This way, when I get drowsy I can put the laptop on the table, roll over, and go to sleep.

could be anxiety. I remember bringing home my first car that I financed and not getting any sleep that night.

Time to get addicted to sleep medication, like a real adult.

you might be onto something. I'm debating whether to go take a shot of something. I really don't want to get into that kind of habit though.

You have to do something a lot more than once or twice to be habit forming. Not that alcohol is a good sleep aid as it is, but if it's convenient. If you are worried about this happening more often (the not being able to sleep well), pick up some melatonin and give it a try. Great stuff if it works.

Ambien CR makes your body feel heavy as hell after it kicks in and it doesn't knock you out. If someone comes over after I've taken my stuff to sleep, they think I'm drunk as hell. My wife has had to explain that I it was from the meds though.

pills and booze

otherwise see a doctor and get some real medication. Tylenol pm is also good, and if you don't sleep you get to enjoy feeling all funny.
