Pseudophedrine HCl is the active ingredient in Sudafed, so anything with that in it will work. Those medicated nasal sprays cause more trouble than they're worth. If you want to use a spray, just use a plain saline one.

Edit: Apparently everything I said has already been covered, but I guess it doesn't hurt to hear it again...

Benadryl is Diphenhydramine HCL. Hmm.... I think the Dimatap is slowly kicking in. I can almost breathe.

Wow! It was Robitussin. Not Demetapp. It seemed to have worked, but I was wired all night. I mean... I slept, but the slightest noise would wake me up and I'd SPRING out of bed. Scary stuff. I felt like I took No Doze with a Jolt chaser..... like college years. 😀

it's cool how your brain wakes you up when you can't breathe huh ? It's happened to me a handful of times. You wake up gasping for air for a few seconds... and it's not because of asthma or a nightmare.

Be very careful with over the counter nasal sprays.

I have nasty allergies and my doctor finally gave me Nasonex. It works ok, I can breathe a bit better, but I am not magically cured from congestion.

I'm guessing you're congested?

Have you tried a warm mist humidifier w/ Vicks?

Also, try eating foods that contain bromelain and flavonoids (anti-inflammatory) and try having a serving of spicy Thai Tom Yum soup (or food with capsaicin) -- it should open up your nasal pasages.

I recommend Horseradish. That will clear out just about anything. :Q
