I can think of a good reason NOT to run RC5

Thanks for your response, Red.

As I see it, we ALL contribute SOMETHING to Anandtech's forums, just by posting here. Whether it's good advice, good movie recommendations, good insults, interesting insights, controversy, or even just bad neffing, all of our posts make up the text that we all read day to day. Those words are our contribution. Also, what kind of team has ever insulted and shooed away FANS? I have been flamed to high hell before after saying that I did not crack, but I SUPPORTED IT, and TA is my favorite team. For Christ's sake, I WEAR A TEAM ANANDTECH DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING HAT every day! --But because I am not cracking, despite my support for those who are, I have been insulted and bitched out by some of those not-so-reasonable members of TA RC5. When was the last time you saw a football player beat up a cheerleader on the sidelines because she wasn't joining the team in the huddle?

Ricky,

you got the illegal TA hat. Only official card-carrying, cracking TA members get the real stuff. ;)

The way that I feel is that: If you're not cracking, you're slacking! The cheerleaders may sure look nice, but they don't help the team on the field.

Science,

You're absolutely right, I DO have the "illegal" hat. --Which just makes it all the cooler to me. The fact that only I, Anand, and "MAYBE" one other person has this hat makes it a collector's item, and it is very valuable to me. Besides, the point wasn't that I have a hat. The point was that I wear a TA DC hat, and, me NOT being a hat-wearer, that shows some support coming from me.

Actually, Sciencewiz,

Cheerleaders most certainly DO help the team on the field. It's a well-known, established, documented fact taught in every psychology book and class. --Just thought you should know.
So, by the not cracking, slacking comment, are you saying you're one of the ones who doesn't beleive we should get the Anandtech forums "Free ride" if we're not cracking? Or would you not take it to that extreme, absurd level?

DesignDawg,

I see no reason for you to insult me.

Ricky and Red,

I'm just copying Russ' sig.

I would not say that everyone is obligated to crack because they enjoy hanging out in the Anandtech forums. What I would day is that everyone here who isn't cracking (whatever the contest) is wasting CPU cycles.

As for the cheerleaders, everything that I have heard has said that it is support that helps the teams. This is why home field advantage is so important, because you have a whole stadium creating a positive energy for the team. About the only times the cheerleaders help specifically is when the quarterback is trying to impress the head cheerleader into giving a date.

and Red, that dork nef just happens to be a respected member of TA. We accept anyone, no matter what their status is in the other forums. We may not always agree with their actions in other forums (and Paulson isn't the only person to embarass TA in other forums) but their spare cycles are always welcome, and so are their contribution into our forum.

Red Dawn--WELCOME BACK!:D

Seems like these recruiting brush wars are becoming too frequent. Perhaps if we keep the threads upbeat and friendly (and not too frequent), then the anti-crackers will have no reason to dump in the thread.

There are lots of "good" (kind of subjective) reasons to do it, competition --Kill the Cows!--stats, learn something new, etc. But people should not be harassed if they simply have no interest. C'est la vie. But if the thread is done appropriately there is no reason to jizz all over it. I guess Stefan has at least a plausable reason, may his CPU RIP :(, I simply think the CPU was terminal and it was simply it's time.
