I called into work today due to weather.

Seriously guys, I'm looking out my window in StL and the roads are perfectly clear. OP is just posting to convince himself that he wont get fired for playing hooky. Look at the white car in the picture he posted.....theres barely any snow up the tire. We got 2 inches maybe.

Also, I had a 30 minute drive today.....compared to OP being afraid of a 4 minute drive.

There was a few inches of snow on the ground, took me about 20 minutes longer than normal for commute. This is not my fault though, this is because there were slow cars blocking the road. I hate when people drive 10mph just because there's a few inches of snow, fvcking retards.

Caprice classic is real wheel drive. They never made any of them front wheel. 2 inches is nothing also. Last time I missed was 10 inches of snow and I would have tried if they hadn't closed several of the roads that go up the hills around here. Most of the issues here seemed to be caused by the people running around on bald tires...

PS 25.7 miles / 1 direction

I could have driven that car in the little bit of snow you had there. You guys need to learn how to drive. I have driven some pretty crappy rear wheel drive vehicles over the years and never once did a teeny little bit of snow like that stop me. That guy in the video is either the dumbest driver in the world or he was doing that on purpose. Jeez he was stalling his own momentum on purpose. When it is slippery you need to straighten your front wheels or you will bog down just as he did. Notice when he finally gives up it is because the cars front wheels are turned rather than straight so the extra resistance is bogging him down. If you are that worried about hurting your beemer then you need to get a beater car to drive in the winter and park that guy. Thats what guys do with their sports cars here in Michigan in the winter months. I will be St Louis on business in a couple weeks. I could probably squeeze an hour out someplace to give you a foul weather driving lesson. ;-)

Tell us more about your 19" wheels and Z4 please, I don't think we've read enough about it yet. And you should spend some money on driving lessons, sounds like you drive like a woman.

I can't speak personally as I've never driven a performance RWD car. I remember my dad's old truck, really light crappy ~1985 thing. When it was snow or ice he would be going sideways down the road but he was experienced in driving in snow so no biggie.

I used to have to deliver in a squirrely Ranger in upper Michigan, which gets a hell of a lot of snow and ice. I was a bit nervous at first but after a while it was cool. Just a matter of getting some experience.

From your picture, and only needing to go 5 miles, if it was in a vehicle not a RWD sports car, I'd say easily do-able.

But I could see the Z4 being difficult and if you don't have the experience or confidence with it in snow, then I think it's acceptable for you to not take the risk.

That's nothing but a dusting. You'd better get out and learn to drive in it if you are going to continue to live in that area.

Nut up or shut up. From the replies in this thread, it appears the latter would be preferred.

LOL you wrote all that just to ask us if you were irresponsible for calling in?

You don't need to convince us, your boss on the other hand...

They let you use sick days because you couldn't make it in? That's freaking generous, I have to use vacation...

You are a wuss. I would probably have to clean my passenger seat if you rode to work with me today.
