My car is just as bad 330i with michelin PS2's with 18" wheels

when it snows too much I just take the bus -> metro -> work

it has been moot though because we have had off every day I couldn't possibly drive in

beside that why is it irresponsible to use PTO?

it is there for this reason and if I was using it than I sure as hell wouldn't be doing any work from home.

Get a man's car.

Yeah... and grow some gonads while you're at it. If you can't make it into work because the weather is bad, work from home! Don't take a vacation day, or let your boss give you a hard time about it. It's not your fault that it snowed.... unless you're an evil mad scientist with a weather machine :)

Did you write enough? I didn't have a problem before, but yeah, you just seem like you're going out of your way to talk about your car and wheels/tires, and justify something that's not a big deal. If you don't feel safe that's fine, and obviously its your choice to decide on going to work or not, but you really should have known better in first place.

Buy some chains or take a taxi, and stop being excessively concerned about it.

kind of dumb to be living in St.Louis all these years and not have snow tires/all weather tires.

I also live in StL and have a rear wheel drive bmw, and I made it to work just fine. The highways were perfectly clear and your neighborhood really isnt much worse then mine.

Op, all this drama makes it seem like you sound like you're worried that you might lose your job. If so are you gonna jeopardize it over snow tires? It snows in MO, right?

Also, that is not much snow on the ground in your picture.

I'm glad I work from home but even if I didn't, I live in CA so it wouldn't have been an issue anyway. :) (Yea I don't have much to contribute to this)

That's like a foot of snow for a Z4 with up sized rim and summer tires

Smart decision, getting a car that you can't drive in the snow though you live in a snow climate.

Yeah dude, not a cool story. I don't think you mentioned your bmw, rims, tires, how you suck at driving in snow, how you are working from home on a vacation day, etc. enough. Blogspot always has room for another blogger.

I used to take my snowmobile to school from age 12 to 16. Haha, yeah northern Minnesota! Snow days were the best thing in the world. I still got up to go to school, I just snowmobiled all day instead!

I'm just going to assume that the OP isn't too thrilled about putting chains on a Z4... My dad and I used to use them when we had to go out and get firewood. Not the smoothed ride in the world...

Also, I'm pretty sure I could have gotten out of that parking lot. I don't have a spare Z4 to try but usually spinning the tires is not such a good thing.

I had a little RWD Ford Ranger once I got my license. That thing was great. Me and a buddy would throw a bit of wood in the back for weight and then drive down to the river. E-brake at 70 MPH in the middle of the Rainy River? Always a good time. Always.

I called off 2 appointments today (like calling out of work) because of the snow. I have zero regrets. I am in my PJ's at 1:00 PM, drinking coffee and browsing ATOT.

i "work from home" if the roads are bad, not worth the stress

i have 50 miles each way commute, takes about an hour with good roads
when the roads are icy, it can take 2-3 hours
