LOL...I bought an "extended life" battery off Amazon and didn't pay attention. The thing didn't tell me that it would double the size of my phone!

That's the exact reason I stay away from extended batteries these days. They are all massive, and well... no thanks. I don't like carrying around a brick.

I have a similar battery and replacement back for my G1, it works great

Although, it does really look like a brick :D

Yea, that tends to happen. If the original battery was 1100 mAh, you might get a 1400 in the standard casing - but something 2000+? Hey, at least if you need to break into your house, you'll have something to throw through the window.

I really wish I had been able to club someone with my old Nextel i550. That thing was a brick.

Usage of the "bricked" term implies that the device no longer works - i.e., dead, inert, like a brick. All extended life batteries have to be larger than the standard - common sense. In a laptop, a 9 cell is bigger than a 6 cell. Logic rules. :)

Bad description! I thought you fried your phone. Put the regular battery back on and sell the extended battery on ebay. MyTouch is a beautiful device, you shouldn't ruin its appearance like that.

Yeah...I was just making a funny.

I couldn't bring myself to carry my phone around looking like that. I'm going to keep that as a backup just in case I fry a battery and need something to get me by.

btw, there are some batteries that offer slightly increased capacity, maybe an extra 100mAh in the same size. not sure how well they work, but they exist for the g1 and n1, maybe the mytouch as well?

edit: here you go

http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/basi15tmg2.htm

higher quality cells? tighter packing?

if it's like 1500 => 2200 mAh, either call BS on the rated capacity if its the same size, or just its a ghetto Chinese made cell. I got some 1500mah bettery for my Canon T1i from DealExtreme. What a lie. Same size? I feel like I get 300 shots and it goes to 2/3 battery marker. On my OEM battery, I can do 400+ shots at least before it even starts to show a sign of weakness with 2/3 bars. I feel like I charge the crappy one a LOT more. I call BS on the 1500 mAh.

Yea, I got a 1400 mAh Seido battery for my G1 back in the day to replace the stock 1150. I saw no improvement. Some people said they did, but I didn't. At least they're cheap (on Amazon, not straight from the manufacturer)

I bought a 1750mAh for my Eris to replace the 1300mAh, and can't tell the difference (in size or weight, it does run about 20% longer.) They also make a 3500mAh one that's HUGE.

Meh I just keep a spare battery in my car.

I would lose it.

I do need to pick up a car charger. The cheap monoprice one I was using won't charge my phone anymore.

Anyone find a deal on one made for HTC? I currently using one meant for Moto/BlackBerry

I use Cellphoneshop.net for my cheap ass phone accessories... Sure the $40 cases look great for 6 months, but I can buy 10 cheap ones for that, and a handful of chargers, adapters, etc...
