I bought my first pair of Wal-Mart shoes

Things might be different now, but I've never had luck buying discount shoes. I prefer the thrift shop, or closeout stores where you can get good stuff cheap.

Depends how long they hold up. I'd rather buy some clearance shoes at DSW. My concern is with $15 shoes, the manufacturer would have had to cut some corners. It's built to that price.

And you got $15 shoes instead of $50 shoes...hell, I don't remember the last time I bought shoes for $50...mine are always over $100.
(damned Flintstone feet)
My last pair of New Balance shoes was about $125.

And it was damn nice paying 15 bucks for tennis shoes instead of 50+

i used to buy mu shoes at walmart/payless for $20.
lasted only 6months.

then bought rockports @50 on sale.
last 2+ years.

better bang for the buck, plus i saved time by not having to buy 3more pairs of shoes in that time frame

yeah, shoes just aren't something you cut costs on. i'm not saying go out and spend $100 on a pair, but for $15 you might as well wrap some burlap around your feet.

this reminds me of the saying "I'm too poor to buy cheap."

makes sense, since u do end up paying more when cheap crap breaks and has to be replaced

Do you ever move?

I buy 40-50 dollar shoes and they rip in half/wear the sole completely after about 6 months from wear and tear.

I know how to walk/run properly, so no, my shoes are rarely ever in such a condition as terrible as you describe before I replace them about once ever year or 2 (of which they're still useable, so I either keep them as muck shoes or give them away)

I usually buy New Balance and get about 1.5-2 years out of a pair, and I normally pay around 50 on clearance or so. If these last 6 months I will be pleased.

and your point? i have dress shoes that are 5+ years old that are still in great shape and will probably give me a few more years of use. on the other hand, i go through $100 tennis shoes (with 6 month outsole warranty) in 3 months.

there are different shoes for different purposes and depending on the purpose, the life of the shoes varies.

It is a challenge to find a pair that isn't all flashy and tacky looking

I don't wear sneakers, but a few years ago I stopped in the athletic shoe isle to kill some time, and I was shocked at what was there. Of the dozens of shoes that were displayed, I probably only saw 2 pair that didn't look stupid. I can't believe what passes for footwear these days :^/

i buy the starter $15 shoes from walmart. BUT i don't wear them outisde (not even to throw garbage out) they are more over done slippers. if i stand to long in them they hurt my feet.

i couldn't imagine wearing them all day walking around.

I should also say i have bad feet so i can't go without shoes or slippers on and when i do walk around i need good shoes or boots.

My brother in law is a dentist pulling in $250k a year & her loves Wal-mart shoes. Thats all he ever wears.

Why? If these last 6 months, you could have been wearing NBs instead of Walmart shoes for less $ over 2 years.

lol yeah i was looking at shoes for my kids. some of the styles are fricken ugly as hell.

There is dude at work, he only wears Court Classics from Costco. I think they would a lot better if they didn't say "Court Classics" on them.
