I switched to mainly Diet Dew / Diet A&W Cream Soda / Root Beer, and Diet Code red.

Then, I moved to water. I had a headache for the first week or so, but I'm cool now.

Anyone heard of phenylalanine? That is what it says it contains.
Is this the same as aspartame?

It's an amino acid that is in many types of food. Aspartame (Nutrasweet) contains a bunch of it. Some people can't metabolize it well and end up with headaches and stuff.

The sweetner is the difference. Diet Pepsi uses Aspartame, which is found in Nutrasweet while Pepsi One uses a Potassium baed sweetner.

I also read in the Wall Street Journal about a new sugar based sweetner that is 2000 times sweeter than regular sugar... but its safe for people who are diabetic :Q

Do you drink a lot od regular pop? If so, then it could be sugar withdrawals. I am serious....it can cause headaches.

No i hardly drink pop, in a week maybe 2 cans.

try diet pepsi and diet coke. Diet mtn dew and sprite don't taste that good.
You really need to switch from regular to diet if you drink that much. I switched, and I can't stand the taste of regular coke, and I like diet.
I really developed a dislike to refined sugar after a while. I don't consume it at all.
Best yet, just drink water. There is nothing good in sodas, and water hydrates better.

Is diet soda that much better for you? I always thought it wasn't that much of an improvement health wise.... but.. I've been kinda tryin to put myself on a little half-diet, but I still drink 2-3 cans of soda a day.. Terrible for me, I know, right?

You think that's bad, all you diet drinkers should really reconsider your aspartame intake.

I tend to drink 8-10 12oz can equivelents in a day. that is about 2000 calories. I decided to try to cut it out of my intake. I am not on a diet or anything, I just want to start watching what I eat.

I will drink pretty much anything that is regular, so I do not have a huge preference. I bought some Sierra Mist diet and some Mountain Dew diet today. ( still caffinated though! yah! )

I would be open to any other recomendations as for a good tasting diet pop. What I can not stand is that wierd after taste most diet's have. The sierra Mist seems pretty good with very little of that crappy aftertaste. I am not open to anything that is un-caffinated. I need it since I do not drink coffee :)

Anyone else try this and have an experence to share?
Being a diabetic, I rarely drink "real" pop. My favorites are:

Barg's Root Beer
Diet Coke (most people don't like it; I do)
Fresca

That's really about it. The rest of them, as many people have pointed out, taste like crap. :D

All I drink is diet soda.

IMO, the best ones are diet Mt. Dew, diet Dr. Pepper and diet Barqs root beer. If you like colas, diet Pepsi is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than diet Coke.

After a couple cans you won't even notice you're drinking diet soda.

Wow, that scares me :(:Q I used to have a can a day, but I have really cut out soda of my diet... went 3 weeks without it, now I just have it once every few days.

Good luck finding a new diet drink

Jeez.. 8-10 cans a day?! I go weeks without drinking soda.. the only caloric beverages I drink are Gatorade and Coffee (with cream).

Is there something so wrong with water?

Hehe baffled, glad your back.

I been drinking diet coke for about a month. It's not great, but it's getting better, especially better than water. Had some diet 7 and almost couldn't tell.

I like, in no particular order

diet coke
diet coke with lemon
diet pepsi twist
diet A&W root beer
diet crush
diet 7-up
diet sprite

another thing you have to watch out for is bone lose when you drink a lot of carbonated drinks.

Cheers,
Aquaman

Moonbeam try to get some pure water in there every day. It's nutrionally "neutral" and will clean you out better than a certified colon cleansing. In fact, I'm drinking some at this very moment (chasing a Diet Dew I had earlier).
