Well, I decided to try a bunch of diet soda (pop, or whatever else it is called) in an attempt to find some that I like. I tend to drink 8-10 12oz can equivelents in a day. that is about 2000 calories. I decided to try to cut it out of my intake. I am not on a diet or anything, I just want to start watching what I eat.

I will drink pretty much anything that is regular, so I do not have a huge preference. I bought some Sierra Mist diet and some Mountain Dew diet today. ( still caffinated though! yah! )

I would be open to any other recomendations as for a good tasting diet pop. What I can not stand is that wierd after taste most diet's have. The sierra Mist seems pretty good with very little of that crappy aftertaste. I am not open to anything that is un-caffinated. I need it since I do not drink coffee :)

Anyone else try this and have an experence to share?

i can't stand the aftertaste of nutrasweet. i've tried a ton of different diets and have yet to find one that i can even tolerate.

I hate how rich coke and pepsi are. I have acid reflux and i really notice a difference between regular and diet. I like diet a lot more, plus it doesn't make me break out like regular does.

I like any of the diet citrus drinks(Sprite, Sierra Mist, Dew, Fresca). Diet Dew Code Red is really good too.

Regular pop has too many carbs, calories and too much sugar. The end result is often increased craving of the stuff while it rots your teeth.

Diet Mountain Dew isn't bad re: the aftertaste. I just ask myself if I want to drink water or Diet Dew....the Dew usually wins. Another advantage of Diet stuff is you don't feel so lethargic after drinking it.

Do you drink a lot od regular pop? If so, then it could be sugar withdrawals. I am serious....it can cause headaches.

As long as you keep with drinking diet drinks, it's more and more tolerable as the days pass. After a month or two, you wont have any problems drinking them.

I personally prefer Diet Mountain Dew and diet Sunkist Orange. The Sunkist Orange is really good in my opinion. I can't drink normal orange drinks anymore after drinking it for a year. Too much sugar in the real thing now.

Diet Sprite is also pretty good, but it does have quite a bit of that "diet" taste to it.

Those are my 3 favorites. I get a 2 litre or two of each at the grocery each week.

Totally agree with you there. Diet Pepsi Twist is my current fave. (drinking one now in fact!)

Evadman - if you want something that tastes real close to the original, give Diet Dr. Pepper a try. (assuming you like Dr. Pepper, that is :))

Diet stuff takes a while getting used to. Once you are used to it, you don't notice an after taste and most people find that the non-diet stuff tastes nasty to them.

i don't have any of the problems with regular soda you guys do. (well except for the rotting teeth, and i really don't drink enough for that).

I would rather have a hawaiian punch or juice or something than diet. Of course most of those have the same nutritional characteristics as regular soda.

I drink so little water it is not even funny. Like none. The only "water" I get is melted ice that was in my pop :)

This sierra mist has almost no aftertaste, but it is not as sweet as the regular. ( am on my second glass, so take it with a grain of salt ) I also can not drink regular pepsi, as it is way too sweet for me. the bottles i bought were 2 L so I only waste a buck if I can not stand something. Now that I think of it, I should have started this thread befire I went to the store :)

I think mountain Dew uses another kind of sweetner, as it has a big ass warning on th eback of it. It stood out when I was looking at it because the whole label is green and white, and here is a bright red WARNING! on the back about its sweetner.

Another good one is Diet Crush (Cream Soda and Orange)...they don't use aspartame, they use Sucralose (Splenda) which tastes way better. I believe diet crush is only available in canada though.

Can someone tell me exactly what the difference between Diet Pepsi and Pepsi One is? Besides the one calorie difference, I really can't see.

diet coke just tastes a bit watered down. I can drink it cause i'm so used to it (my parents drink it.. dad diabetic, and mom can't take the sugary regular coke.. hell, she adds ice to water down diet soda).

Diet Dr. Pepper is ok, as is diet sprite. But the sprite, after drinking it for a while, the aftertaste got to me. Now i just try to resist soda if i can help it.

I remember hearing somewhere that Diet Rite uses sucralose...I don't even know what "Rite" is though since we don't have it here. It's too bad more companies don't use splenda cause it's way better imho, it's actually made from real sugar...it's just engineered to not be absorbed by the body, and it also doesn't rot teeth. I dunno how they do it

Diet Pepsi uses Nutrasweet as its sweetener. Pepsi One uses a combination of Nutrasweet and another no/low-calorie sweetener that was recently approved for use in the US (has been used in Europe for years) and supposedly tastes closer to real sugar. I don't care for it.

Oh and Diet Rite = Diet RC Cola

Anyone heard of phenylalanine? That is what it says it contains.
