I bought a Springfield Armory XD 9mm

Scarpozzi

Lifer
I tried out a Glock 19 and it was too small for my hands. The injection molded grip forced my fingers into an uncomfortable position. I ended up liking the Glock 17 more, but it was too big if I wanted to carry in the future.

I ended up going with the XD because the sub-compact has a larger clip and it adds about an inch to the grip. I shot the first 100 rounds through it today. The sights are pretty good. I had quite a few bullseyes and good clustering overall with the 2 generic boxes of ammo I shot.

I only had one issue so far and that was when I put 15 rounds in the clip. By the second shot, the spring in the clip caused the top 3 rounds to jam. I think the spring is too new and maybe it's ammunition specific....

The case came with a nice holster, speedloader, and a double clip holster, cable gun lock, and a nice plastic case. It isn't the cheapest gun, but it's pretty nice and has low recoil for its weight.

Anyone else got one or have any comments?

Updated: Pictures of My XD9 Subcompact. I threw a AA battery in there for scale.
Pic 1: magazines out
Pic 2: compact mag in
Pic 3: extended mag in
Pic 4: disassembled for cleaning

Here's a stock picture without the extended magazine.

Magazine.

Nice gun! It's the one I'm thinking I will get when I turn 21. I need to shoot it more though. Now I want to go to the range....

I got the same thing last month. It's MAGAZINE didn't give me any problems at all. I liked the grip shape better than the Glock. Good choice.

I'm not a fan of striker-fire weapons, and neither is my husband. Unlike him, I don't think Sigs are the end all be all (they feel weird in my hand). Give me an H&K any day. Congrats anyway 🙂

Get an uplula mag loader too. Saves the thumbs on trips to the range.

Just ordered a Kahr PM9093N myself. Can't wait for it to get here.

Nice purchase.

I got a new scope today for my .17 HMR. I had a cheapo tasco on it before, but I went with a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x instead.

Here is the best group of the day - Picture of target

Since you edited your post I will edit mine.

I meant a picture of the gun you just bought, not a link to a little stock photo off the internet.

Here, I'll start.

My ruger mark III.

Great gun! I've been looking into buying a ruger single six but money has been tight these days 🙁

OP - great gun all around. Everyone thinks the 9mm is a little light for self defense but the 15 round mag makes up for it.

Sigs are your one and only true god! BOW BEFORE THEM!

Great pistol. I have one also, now just save up for when you get your CC and get
this--->CC

I have an XD45 that's very nice. I wish I still could shoot in my Monday night action pistol league because the one time that I did use the XD45 I did really, really well (usually I use my 1911).

If you reload, don't try to shoot SWC bullets out of it. I couldn't get them to function properly at all in my XD. I had some spectacular jams and even did some slight (not-permanent, luckily) damage to one of my magazines. I shoot round nose or TC bullets now.

Because Red Dawn can come at any time.

Plus you never know when communist factions of Russian and South America might band together to invade the US.

Why should he have to need one to buy one?

Usually when the time comes that you "need" one, the time for buying one is long past.

Exactly. You should never, under any circumstance have to justify a "need" to buy any firearm.
