Did you read what I said? 25 minute drive by the HIGHWAY. There is no public transportation between here and there.

I read what you said and no-where did you mention no public transportation.

I suppose I'm assuming too much. When I said by highway, I automatically assume that means a lack of public transportation. I'm not from closer to the cities so I keep forgetting that there are some buses that take highways within the city. My bad, sorry about that.

But yeah, no public transportation to speak of. I have seen a bus around here a few times but I'd have to add an extra hour at least to my commute, plus probably switching buses. Totally not worth it.

BTW, I don't mind the drive that much really, just saying that for people like me they don't have much of an option.

Find me a small car that will allow me to carry my 6' paintings around and I'd be happy to switch. Oh, wait, my car is worth about $2 now because it gets 15mpg.

Yes, I am one of the few that needs a larger vehicle, much to my dismay.

Big Oil companies making record profits over the last few years and then saying "it's not us" just doesn't sound right to me...

Then you have to deal with it, or find another way to cart around your paintings.

It's not the "big oil companies" and their profits aren't really any more than they ever were.

If you have two companies, each making $100 and a profit of $10 and combined them, they now make $200 and $20. Did their profit double?

If you have another company who made $100 last year but their "goods" cost them $90 to buy, they had a 10% profit margin. If their cost doubles to $180, do you expect them to sell it for the same amount of $100 and take an $80 loss?

No, they turn around and sell it for $200, making $20. Guess what? That's a 10% profit margin, nothing changed!

"Record profits in the billions" is what I heard. Now, if you want to go with a profit margin and say that's 10%, fine. The problem is I would like to see them drop their profit margin to 8% and save us a few billion. Oh, wait, that would mean the head people would lose out on bonuses... nevermind.

I need this rack, which I had to custom build, to carry all my paintings to shows and exhibits. I even had to customize it to fit around the wheel wells, that's how little tolerance I have in the rear. In addition to that rack, all the paintings it holds, I carry a large (very large) display rack I built that needs to be assembled on-site, a chair, and an ice chest. Not to mention all the hardware needed to get a show done.

Sorry, but there really are people that NEED large vehicles.

BTW, I understand basic math and percentages. I'm 42 and have been around the block a few times (no pun intended) so try not to educate me on profit margins. I sell paintings to get myself through school. (Don't even start about school and my age. I'm a veteran, former paramedic, SAR, and master scuba instructor, I am not a slacker. I took 20 units last spring and got seven A's and two B's. I'm too old to be a paramedic, as much as I love it there is no future, so I am getting a degree a bit late in life.)
