I been robbed!! Last night!!

So I'm installing and reinstalling some stuff on my home network last night. Just minding my own business and helping my younger brother fix his computer problems too.

I leave at 12:30am to take him back home. When leaving my townhouse I don't notice anything unusual. I make it back home around 2:45-3:00am and still don't really notice anything.

I virtually make it an all-nighter and stay up till morning. Its then around 6:30 that I'm watching fox news and I gaze down. Bam my modded white xbox vanished. First I thought okay.. My little bro just borrowed it and didn't tell me. I call over there and nope he doesn't have it. I search the house and nothing.

Then my fiancee tells me that the Xbox was there when she cleaned earlier that day. We left to go out for dinner around 7ish-8:30ish. Upon returning home I start tearing apart my network and helping my brother. Fiancee went to bank and wal-mart. When at the bank she withdrawled $850 to do shopping today on Sunday for our wedding vacation in August. Major bummer and setback for us now.

Anyways....

Fast forward to when I left to take my brother home. The cash was in her purse on the ottoman and the xbox was evidently there as well.

She notices the cash missing shortly after I'm freaking out about the xbox being gone.

So during the time I left 12:30 and 3:00am, someone came into our living room and stole the stuff. Luckily the person/persons didnt venture through my house anymore. She was sleeping upstairs and more valuables were around.

All in all we lost the cash, modded xbox, digital camera, dvds and video games. Even a couple hats of mine that were in the living room area. One that was signed by Albert Pujols 🙁.

What would you guys do in my situation. My doors were locked when I left. I'm always anal about that because of my stuff isn't easy to replace. Who's is??

I want to install video cameras. Does anyone have good recommendations? I cannot take this insecurity.

The cops couldn't do crap. Most of the stuff they couldn't even fingerprint. Like her leather billfold, or her purse, or the leather ottoman. 🙁

Your hats are too small for my head, but your Xbox is working great!!!!

BTW: Your collection of video games sucks. I had to giv them away. Thanks a lot, mate :|

Man, you guys withdraw all that cash to do shopping? Why not use a CC or debit? The only times i use that much cash for purchases is for drugs.

Anyways, if your door was locked, then how did they get in? Very few people know how to pick locks, especially people who are just going to run in to steal an xbox and money from a purse.

thats what is bothering me alot. its a professional job if you ask me. i live in a pretty nice area and obviously someone had to be casing me to see when I left. Perhaps they heard or thought they heard someone coming and took off? I have no friggin clue but I wish I did.

Thats why I want cameras now.

Was the door locked when you came home? Cause most times thieves won't stop to un-pick a lock when they've got an arm full of stolen goods.

i agree now that just using the debit card for shopping would've been a whole lot better.

i just never anticipated this happening and neither did my fiancee...

Maybe you forgot once, or had a window open that they snuck through in.

You should be very happy nothing happened to your wife or the robber didnt take any more

A professional job would not have stopped at the living room, they would have gone to the bedroom for the jewelery. My guess: someone you trusted with a key needed some cash.

Hmm do you want to switch handle? I think mine would be more appropriate for you.

More than likely i think you accidentally left your door ajar... you just thought you closed it. Even if you're convince you 'remember' closing it, your mind probably just filled that part of your memory in from past experiences or expectations.

Cameras would be somewhat helpful i guess, but it would probably be better to get a dog or something. Even a small dog like a shih tzu would have been enough.

i came home through the front and not the rear slider door. i believe the thieve or theives used the rear slider somehow.

see i have limited parking spaces. 2 in garage. and one in driveway. so alot of times I have to park on the street. I have a project car, work car, her work car, and another vehicle we use for trips, weekends, etc.

so if i park on the street then I come through the front door.

On top of that, a professional wouldn't have hit the place while somebody was still home.

All in all, I think ddviper has it right. The important thing is there was no harm done to your wife. You stuff might not be easily replaced, but you CAN replace it....harm caused to a love one can never be 'taken back'...

Even if the thief heard a noise or thought someone was coming? Or realized he had nearly 1k alone in cash and was happy with that??

i just want cameras so we can feel safe and live in peace. probably get a small doggie too. a gun too and I won't be asking any questions if I see an intruder.

i guess until it happens to you, then you really have no idea how it feels. this is going to ruin my whole week and i'll be losing much needed sleep.

If I was a thief and I'd already gone through the hard part of finding an open house and getting in, finding > $1k in the living room alone would absolutely make me want to see what I could find in the bedroom.

kinda possibly but i doubt it. it'd be hard to prove anyways if it was.

i'm kinda limited on friends and buddys just for this reason. most friends i've had turned out to be backstabbers. i really don't think it was someone i know, but it is possible. More likely someone saw me leave with my brother and thought nobody was home.
