You go to MIT eh? I imagine you're moving into the dorms/apartments or something

Well, interestingly enough, when I was a college student someone hit my friends call while I was trying to move *out* of the dorms with a U-Haul... Not only did the guy w/ the U-Haul have to pay for damages but he was banned from renting U-hauls FOR LIFE. He was also put on a blacklist that rental companies use to decide how much to charge you for rentals (if they decide to rent to you at all!). A buddy that worked at enterprise told me that they regularly charge 50 to 70 percent more to people on the blacklist and it takes seven years to fall off it... sucks man

Also, I drive the same car as the car you damaged... Weird.

I work at U-Haul and that is a bunch of shit. Unless he gave serious attitude and was violent and lied about damages and wouldn't pay for any, this would never happen. We do not contact other rental companies about rentals, we don't care about other companies, why should we put more money in their pocket.

We don't care if they get in an accident either way, we get payed and make money off of it. Even scratching the decals is between $30-$100 depending on which you damage and how large of a scratch. If you got our insurance, you have nothing to worry about, but if you didn't and don't report the accident to us as well as the owner of the car, it is considered a hit and run and charges could be put in place. We will find out from the owner of the car what happened and probably get yelled at by the person for not making you take insurance and for us to pay it.

Sarcasm meter broken eh

You'd be surprised how often you aren't sarcastic ;).

Seriously though, U-Haul states in the contract that you hit I Agree for after picking no insurance states that you cannot use a CC as a form of Insurance, you are required to pay in any form you want, but you must pay us and may or not be reimbursed. This is of course if our equipment is damaged, which it doesn't sound like there is any.

Does your insurance even cover you while driving a U-Haul? I thought most do not unless you pay extra? Did you get insurance with uhaul? Most CC's only cover car rentals, not moving trucks so I doubt that will help either.

U-Haul is a temporary substitute auto, his insurance will cover it.

That also depends on what insurance policy you have. In Minnesota, full coverage covers any motor vehicle under 26,000lb and is required by every insurance policy, but depending on where he lives and what insurance policy he has, it may not cover it.

Stick with what you know, U-Haul boy. There isn't an insurance company in the world that's not going to cover a U-Haul you were driving for liability purposes. Maybe you're talking about first party coverages, but if you hit someone else in a rented vehicle, I don't care if it's a Monster Truck, your insurance covers the damages to their vehicle.

I hate that I have to say it, but I'm impressed as well the OP left his info. It's a sad statement on our world, but from my experience leaving notes is the exception, not the rule. :(

Hey professor, did you miss the part where I've said like 20 times that I'm an insurance adjuster? I deal with people who've had their car backed into several times a day.

It must be really difficult being such a genius. Like, the crushing weight on your shoulders of knowing you're by far the most intelligent person on the planet must be really hard to bear. Do random people ever just come up to you and say things like "I can't wait for you to come up with a quantum unification theory" or "What's the square root of 10 to 30 decimal places?" I wouldn't be surprised, your staggering aptitude is so obvious I bet even strangers off the street can tell you're one of the most powerful forces of rational thought in the universe.

I think we should startup a paypal fund for the OP since he seems to be a stand up guy by actually leaving a note with his info. I'll toss in the first 5 dollars!
