<< What a fool. I can't believe some people are so cocky in their $70k autos they think they can take on a bike. I'd bet a good 600cc would smoke a Viper as well (with proper gearing and jetted), so what made this idiot think he could take on a 1300cc bike??? >>

Um, a 600 with bad gas would smoke a Viper. My GSX-R does close 10 secs in the quarter mile. A Viper is still a second and a half slower. I would say that any 600 would smoke any stock car made at this time. Anything over a 600 is just icing on the cake :)

On the same topic, the ones that I love are the ricers that think their Civic with ground effects will give a decent race. Talk about shifting at 8k... LOL :)

I will try and dig up the issue of one of the car magazines from a few years ago where they had a Yamaha 1000 or 1100 with good rider chasing a Dodge Viper around Riverside. The car won...

I believe that issue was Motor Trend and not Car and Driver nor R&T.

I took a coupla laps at Sears Point on my Honda CB-550 over 25 years ago during a AFM race... Scared the sh*t out of me!

And you're actually trusting a magazine to tell the truth? From a magazine, I wouldn't doubt that they would say that the Viper would win everytime. Which companie can give out a bigger pay-off, Doge or Suzuki/Yamaha/Honda/Kawasaki/Ducati? Most magazines are worthless when comparing vehicles, IMO.

Sad fact is than on many tracks a good (read very good) car can outlap a bike. A bike has to lean to turn and sooner or later you start to scrape parts. A car only has to have better rubber to stay put. F1 cars can pull a few g's in a curve (correct me if I am wrong). It's just physics. Fortunately I do not live on a track so I own the mofos's :)

True, but we aren't talking about F1 cars are we? We're talking about a bike that costs a fifth of the Viper dusting it. :)

More rubber, more friction, easier to stay on the track at high speeds. But then again those cars cost more than even the most extravagent of supercars.

Yep, but the Viper would need some serious brakes to overcome its substantial base weight, maybe a F50(much lighter).

The bike would be faster looking but in terms of lap time they would be quite close. To put in perspective, Max Biaggi on his championship winning bike lost out to M. Shumacher's 99' Ferrari F1 car by over 25 seconds on the Mugello course, the whole distance is about 1 min 30 sec.

<< So I was riding along minding my own business when this preppy lawyer looking type pulled up to me in a Viper at a long red light and gunned his engine. I looked over and the SOB sneered. Normally I don't race anyone. What would be the point since I know I'll win every time? Anyway he looked so arrogant I had to play with him. I raised my visor and said "You really don't really want to race me. You'll hate your car if you do and I'd hate to see that happen" The gauntlet thrown down now, he had to take the bait. The light turned and I let him pull ahead. I waited until I could see his smile in his side mirror, and then I dropped down 2 gears and smoked him like he was standing still. Heres the kicker. We had to stop at another red light where I said "I warned you that you'd hate your car". I hung a left and left him steaming :D >>

My Ducati 998r will serve you your bike sunny side up :)

If I'm not mistaken, the Hayabusa is the fastest street bike in production. Unless you've got some serious mods done to your duck, then I seriously doubt you'll serve him "sunny side up"

I will add in my 2 cents:

For those of you arguing about insurance rates on bikes.... I have a Yamaha XS1100 Special (ultimate sleeper). Insurance cost: $130/yr.

Also... A ducati is NOT going to be serving a Busa sunny-side up or any other way for that matter. For the time being, the Busa is the fastest production bike ever made, and if I'm not mistaken, '99 models are even faster than the brand new ones, because of laws put in place to limit performance of stock bikes. Now, the Busa and another bike by yamaha share the title of the fastest NEW production bikes, seeing as how they both have ample power to break the law, but are artificially held to a lower (and equal) grade.

Actually, it's a Kawasaki ZX-12.
And a Duke could beat a Busa around a track easily, but NOT in a straight line. Never in a million years. :)

Too funny. I had a guy in a Callaway Vette wanting to drag me a while back before I sold my Triumph. I stayed even with him (in first gear) until I saw his hood dip the second time as he shifted into third, dropped a couple gears and gave him a "bye-bye" wave with my non-throttle hand and I left him for dead. There's just no comparison between bikes and cars until you get well over 100 when aerodynamics start to come into play.

Check out the dyno chart on the 'Busa

Puts most small cars to shame.:D

That things aero stying gives new meaning to the term "Crotch Rocket" - It looks like he's molded into it...

I always race the guys on sport bikes in the hopes that they'll flip over. ;-)

To be honest it's pretty rare that I have one walk away from me - I think probably because most of them DO have the sense to launch slowly.

Edit: Not that they couldn't, but #1 reason why I don't ride a bike is that I'd get carried away and kill myself, I think most riders show some pretty good restraint sometimes. Oh and I don't REALLY hope they'll flip over.

I can't wait to get my baby back from the shop, so I can go prowling the streets again.

Sat. some assclown tried to steal my bike and fu<ked up the ignition switch and dropped it on it's side. Total damage was, ruined ignition switch, scratched crossbar, damaged right fairing, scratched up right engine cover, scratched and dented muffler, and it looks like he tried to go through the gears without using the clutch. I'm still waiting for the stupid insurance guy to go look at the bike to see if they'll cover it or not.

<< OuterSquare

Is that a stock Supra or modded like a mother? And was that a stock 'busa? Let's see that same Supra try this 'busa on for size.

Turbo Hayabusa

There is a Busa with a SC where I race, does the 1/4 mile at over 140mph and that track is at 6000ft! :D

I think the vid title said that the hayabusa was stock, but the supra was modded up the ass. I think the Supra was running 26 PSI of boost and a 70 hp shot of NOS. :Q

Everytime I watch that video, my jaw just drops. They both completely fly by that car in the center lane. I really want to know what that supra runs in the Q mile.

That's one disgusting dyno readout. Can you even ride a bike like that without risking death each time you push it? What does a bike like that run in the qmile? I'd pay money to see that race. :D
