I Am Unable To Swallow a Pill

So, try putting some water in your mouth first, point your head up at the ceiling, then swallow, and follow it up with another drink of water immediately.

Put in your mouth, fill mouth with water, swallow.

If that fails, stick pill in some squished up bread and swallow with water.

If that fails, buy chewables.

my exgirlfriend had the same problem, she always had to take the liquid form, or if we couldnt get a hold of the liquid, then she would chew up the tabs (ahaha should have seen the look on her face).

Try putting chunks in apple sauce or yogurt, this helped me when I was younger and my mom made me take my vitamins. You need to get used to the feeling of having hard things going down your throat.

Now I can swallow 10 at a time with water or 5 without.

They taste like sh!t. Benadryl especially it crumbles fast. Try a gelcap...chew that you'll puke :-/

I don't get how people have a problem with this. It's just like swallowing food. I know someone who is probably 100 pounds overweight, yet she can't swallow a tiny thyroid pill without drama.

Have you tried chewing up a mouthful of food, then throwing the pill in there before swallowing?

If pills, liquids and chewables don't work you can always go with a suppository.

I used to have a real problem swallowing them and am not all that much better these days. I find if i first swallow some water then put a small amount in my mouth with the pill then sit in a normal eating position with a lot of tries i can get it to go down. I have found the trick for me is not to put it to the back of your mouth but right to the front and occasionally on a swallow attempt my brain won't realise it is there and it goes down.

PS. following that back when i was 8 and really used to have to swallow a pill i basically used to make myself gag until i coughed and it went down. Not a nice way to do it though!

i place the pill on the back of my tongue with my hand

i also have a problem with taking pills, taking BC everyday has helped it though.

i have to practically flick the pill down my throat and drown it with water to make it go down, or else it'll just swish around forever with all the water i try to drink.

If it's a capsule, tilt your head forward and swallow (capsules float so you want it to float to the back of your throat), if it's a "chalky" pill then tilt head back.

Hey, you asked for advice and flaming, I gave you some great advice. My grandpa had to take it like this. Always complained too but at least there was no puking it back up.

I had to take a suppository once when I was like 4 for some medication I can't even remember what it was for. I just the experience. It looked and felt like I was shoving a crayon up my crack. Not that I've ever done it again

If you really have a problem with it, get children's chewables or liquid. Figure out what the adult dose is and calculate how much/many of the children's formula to take. Any number of pain relievers and cold medicines are available in children's formulas, it doesn't matter if adults take them, you just take more to equal the regular dose.
