$300 a month? US$? :Q I spend maybe CDN$100 a month on food, and that's counting "frills" like candies.

Liquor isn't counted in there. 😀

You aren't the Iron Chef of Student Housing until people start stealing your leftovers out of the dorm fridge. That constantly happened to a friend of mine.
 
One poor fool made the mistake of stealing some of my last pot of Killer Chili. I caught him "red-faced" as he was rushing for milk from the fridge. 😛

I don't make it so hot anymore. But shhh - don't tell them. I like my rep as "that guy who makes the biohazardous chili" 😀 Keeps them outta my chow.
