I am not going to see the Biggie movie this weekend.

lol. I really do want to see the movie eventually, I honestly feel that some real negative press will be coming shortly - lol.

I'm not racist (go Obama!), but I always find it funny when an obviously black poster posts something that only really black people care about, and the majority non-black ATOT audience responds in a quite obvious way..

"I can't wait to hear the new Lil Wayne album!"

"Lil wayne sucks and rap sucks and.. " yada yada..

P.S. I love lil wayne

If you live in the north east chances are you care about biggie regardless of your color just as west coast care about tupac regardless of color.

I live in the North East but don't really care about Biggie.. I don't really think many people do. The movie will do well, but I guarantee that 99% of the audience will be black, 1% will be hipsters being ironic.

Where are you from and how old are you? The club I work at on college nights (predominantly white) dancefloor still goes crazy when they play a biggie track like juicy or another classic.

I live in Brooklyn, a few blocks from the Marcy Projects (and I'm 27)...

Oh, white kids go crazy when biggie's on the speakers where I'm from, but will they spend $11.50 on a movie about his life? I dunno, people go crazy when Warrant's on the jukebox too.

I never said I grew up here. Born in Queens, went to school in the Bronx, and first moved to Brooklyn 4 years ago.

Not really... People listened to the music, sure, but people also listened to DMX a lot when I was in high school... Whatever happened to him?

I listened to some clips from this movie on the radio today and the guy actually sounds like Biggie. For some reason I have a feeling this movie is going to resemble 8 mile so I'll probably wait for it to hit DVD as well.

Did you live in NYC? How the fuck do you know what you're talking about?

Music was MUCH more stratified in the 90s, at least where I grew up. The white kids listened to Nirvana, the black kids listened to Tupac/BIG.... The asian kids.. All I knew about them was that they liked Banana Republic.

Edit.. I'll add, no one I knew gave a shit when BIG was shot. It wasn't an "assassination" - it's wasn't a big deal to the people I knew. The same way black kids on Marcus Garvey didn't give a shit that Cobain blew out his brains.. "Crazy rockers!"

one nice thing is that the streets should be safer for a brief time while all the wanna-be gang bangers and drug dealers are watching the movie. it would be really funny to go into one of the showings and yell "POLICE!" and watch everyone scatter.

I've lived in the northeast my whole life and I really don't know if i've ever heard one of his songs. I didn't even know biggie smalls was the same person as notorious b.i.g. In conclusion, rap sucks.

I think the "at least where I grew up" is key, we listened to Nirvana, Metallica, NWA, and Snoop. Nobody listened to Tupac/BIG.
