I am not going to see the Biggie movie this weekend.

Music was MUCH more stratified in the 90s, at least where I grew up. The white kids listened to Nirvana, the black kids listened to Tupac/BIG.... The asian kids.. All I knew about them was that they liked Banana Republic.

I think the "at least where I grew up" is key, we listened to Nirvana, Metallica, NWA, and Snoop. Nobody listened to Tupac/BIG.

Yes sir, it really does depend. My buddies from Astoria Queens listened to Heavy Metal and L.A. Hip Hop, and were big into metal/rap fusion....

My point is, not everyone in the N.E. cared about BIG. I was still crying over Kurt, listing to Pretty Hate Machine, and being emo before it had a name. A few years later we started Skanking and listening to Oy punk! Those were silly times.

Your a bit out of touch to not know who he is although you are 7 hours away from new york and practically in Ohio I'm not sure how you grew up not knowing who he was unless you are a rural shut in?

Wrong. Massachusetts, 19, white male. I've seen their names once or twice in news articles.

I don't know that you would fit in the middle of the bell curve for your demographic.

You were six years old when he was alive.

Irrelevant. Your statement had no age clause.

so you are just trolling in a thread for which you would have no legitimate frame of reference to positively contribute? But your only 19 so this behavior makes sense.

I wouldn't want to wait in line for the movie, but I'd still see it anyway if I had any interest at all. I thought Tupac Resurrection was actually pretty interesting.

It's actually quite some truth into it. I've already heard ramblings from local thugs in my area about seeing this "flick."

I am not gonna get shot.

Where, exactly, are you encountering these "local thugs"?

No, I am proving you wrong.

Your reasoning is probably unsound if you don't live in souf centraw, but it's good you'er avoiding a movie that will probably be a stinker.

Holy christ.. You've gained like 3K posts in just a month or two.. I remember when you just had like 1200, and that was late last year. (Is there any other MOTF XXXX?)

I'd see any other film about hip hop other than this one. There is absolutely no need to pay any homage to people that perpetuated the "gangsta" image that hit real hip-hop for wrecking damage.

Nope, there's just me. I've been doing some serious neffing, trying to make John send his whole wallet to a children's charity. 😛

I live in the Tremont section of the South Bronx. Choose any corner in a 4 mile radius and you will find a local "thug..."

I live in the North East but don't really care about Biggie.. I don't really think many people do. The movie will do well, but I guarantee that 99% of the audience will be black, 1% will be hipsters being ironic.

Haha, it's so true. Out here on the island those demographics shrink to 70% black, 20% wiggers, and 10% JAP girls who download his whole discography and think they're his original listeners.

i'd be more worried about talking all the way through the movie

Where are you from and how old are you? The club I work at on college nights (predominantly white) dancefloor still goes crazy when they play a biggie track like juicy or another classic.

I live in Brooklyn, a few blocks from the Marcy Projects (and I'm 27)...

Oh, white kids go crazy when biggie's on the speakers where I'm from, but will they spend $11.50 on a movie about his life? I dunno, people go crazy when Warrant's on the jukebox too.

you grew up in brooklyn? lol right.

I never said I grew up here. Born in Queens, went to school in the Bronx, and first moved to Brooklyn 4 years ago.

plz, stop trying to make yourself sound hardcore by mentioning the bronx.
we all know how protected the bx sci kiddies are.
